"We couldn't have made it on the Xbox 360 and the reason for that is actually because we designed it around the PS3's strengths" says the Media Molecule folks, explaining that they built Little Big Planet around the PS3's architecture, Blu-ray disc capacity and that "having a hard drive on every unit makes a difference." But they aren't entirely anti-360, admitting that the console is an "incredibly capable machine" that, theoretically, could be home to LBP, "but it'd be a different game." Ouch! And all along we were under the impression that LBP could eventually release to the Xbox Live Arcade way under the 150MB Arcade limit. We guess we were wrong ... ZING!

I prefer the content available on the 360, but this game (and stuff from PixelJunk) make me wish I had a PS3 to play it on...
...but not enough to go drop $300 just for it.
I'm not against the PS3 per se.
Hardware wise, it's nice.
But Sony's decision to remove backwards compatibility killed the deal for me.
Maybe I'll get one of the old ones with hardware BC off of ebay or something later... For now I'll just live vicariously through other peoples' experiences with LBP...
*sigh*

Ive been thinking about it for a while now. If there is a bundle I'll probably drop some coin on it.

I'm with you, nomadic0ne. I bought my PS3 for the exact same reasons. I bought it for LBP, PSN games (XBLA and Live are my favorite features of the 360) and BC. I bought a used 60GB PS3. My game collection for the Sony platform right now is:
PixelJunk Monsters
PixelJunk Eden (genius)
The Last Guy (also genius)
fl0w
Uncharted
Shadow of the Colossus
Ico
We Love Katamari
I plan on picking up Flower and LBP and that makes the system worth it to me. Only two retail games in there.

360 Owners dont want this, its a PS3 Exclusive so = POS instantly. Its always that way, Final Fantasy 13 was a POS game that was going downhill until a certain announcement at E3.
Also, Big Bird, "lack of other things to play" .... seriously? ...how is it back in 2006?
I'd tell you why LBP is one of, if not THE, most wanted game currently but it will turn into a huge flamefest and I will have bitter fanboys telling me how Gears 2 will be game of the year and all that crap so sod it. Sackboy is the new PS3 mascot and MM dont want to burn any bridges so they could develop something non LBP related in the future for both consoles.
Commence downvote...

I have both systems, and I agree with you.
FF13 was the game to get on PS3 until it went multiplatform, then it was junk in the eyes of the PS3 community.
That said, LBP look ok but I don't think it's for me.

i just see this game as a nice diversion. i really don't see this as a long term investment of my time.
not everybody has to go apeshit over the game. i respect it for what it is: a creative tool for game design.
with that said, i am much more anticipating Fable 2 than anything the PS3 has to offer this fall.
no need to sod off here, my good ol chap!

You gotta love all the PS3 fanboy posters that had to run over here immediately.

You are right, we are idiots, how dare the people who own a Playstation 3 comment on an article involving Little Big Planet, the PS3 exclusive.
@ Rygar
You are right too, there are moronic fanboys on both sides. I for one am looking forward to FF13 regardless if it is exclusive or not and I'd like to play Mass Effect after my friend has raved about how awesome it is.

eric,
You do know fanboys can play BOTH consoles, right? and read news on BOTH sites and have opinions on to give for BOTH sites. Also, when I hear a biased/unjustified/misinformed statement, yes, I do comment and voice my opinion. Am I wrong for this? Should I just pick one side and stick with it? Seriously.....

@Devin: Woah tiger. Let's not infer and put words into my mouth. I'm making fun of the fact that there are several people that hardly ever post at all and the only time they do is to come over and stir stuff up when it's related to the PS3 which they feel like they have to defend at X3F. It's tough to listen to people act like they are objective when you know that they are not. Just because you post pro-PS3 comments on X3F doesn't make you objective. I said nothing about choosing one console or about LBP at all. LBP interests me and looks fun.

They always say this, this mumbo-jumbo. Blu-ray disc capacity and that "having a hard drive on every unit makes a difference. What difference?
Later this fall, Optional HDD-Install, and I guarrentte that the games no bigger than 8GB.
Cause really its more created content than anything.

The "hard drive difference" means no worries about just a memory stick on which to store game details. Read that as huge game saves.
I'm wondering if Sony is going to game developers with extra cash saying "PLEASE overdevelop your game so Blu-Ray is the only way to deliver it. We don't care if it's video content; we just want to crow about how only a PS3 can properly deliver the full experience."
Now, when they goof later on and need two Blu-Ray disks, will that still be a selling point?...

i think he meant the install space for the hdd. not the actual disc content on the bluray. so 8gb would be a correct guess.

Wow, are you guys jealous or something? Stop acting like you wouldn't get this game if it was on 360. *Insert standard comment about owning both consoles here*

There really is no acting, just not a game I would be interested in. I don't have both systems nothing has compelled me to get both systems. I don't care for the metal gear franchise and FF is the same way for me. To each their own.

I'm with you Dead Insomnia. I love my xbox and never thought I'd need or want a PS3. But the LBP videos I've been watching have changed my mind. I'm getting a PS3 as soon as this comes out.
Doesn't hurt that they throw in a "free" Blu Ray player ;)
