Additionally, the official Braid blog reports that the VGChartz estimate that the game has sold about 28.5 thousand units "seems to be in the right neighborhood" but adds that "a lot more" will be needed before the game becomes profitable.

I am stoked that Braid is doing this well. I was hesitant to step out and pick it up due to the pricepoint I am now glad that I did. It is a great game that is deserving of the kudos. I only wish the demo did more to represent just how challenging the game really is.

math time... 28.5k * 15 = 427.5 K, I wonder what it cost to make. and what they're defining as profitable

Keep in mind Blow's not the only mouth to feed. Uncle MS needs their cut too. His, if memory serves (after the recent developer royalty cut) is about 45%. So that means instead of 427.5 K The developer is seeing closer to 192.3 K. And that's not including fees for certification, software licenses, etc. that went into the development of the game. And don't forget there were a couple of other people involved beside Blow. At least 2 different artists? Maybe others, I haven't looked at the credits yet. Anyhow, they all need to be paid too... He probably needs to sell at least 2x what has been sold so far to make a decent profit.

Am I the only person looking at this, seeing all the hub-bub this games getting and going wtf? No offense but this game looks mediocre at best, no better than any of the other xbla titles that nobody's ever heard of... The only difference I see is this game has been getting hype from all the big sites causing ppl to think things like "OMGawd X3f thinkz its hawt so i must buys it!". Just cause its selling dont make it a good game...

You say it "looks" mediocre. Have you played it?

Why would he have played it, it's not like there is a free demo available that allows you to play the entire first world and sample a tid-bit of a few others...
What a world we would be living in if there were such a demo.
Seriously mate, the only people calling it mediocre are people who have never played it. Do yourself a favor and download the demo (yes... it actually exists!). You do have an Xbox 360 and broadband internet access yes?

You aren't the only one. I played it and still don't get the endless hype.

No, you are not the "only person looking at this, seeing all the hub-bub this games getting and going wtf?". There are actually many others just like you.

Yeah i played through the demo and thought it was poo. I played the demo again after reading all the hype about it on X3F and still thought it was poo, i don't understand why people are raving about it.
Yeah sure it looks pretty but so did Assasins Creed and that game was boring as hell also.

As long as people have actually tried it, I'm cool with them not liking it. I just read a lot of disparaging comments from people who sound like they haven't actually played it.

If you can get all of the puzzle pieces in the demo (something like all of world 2, 1 on world 3 and 3 on world 4) then I'd say at least you tried. If you don't get the last 2 puzzle pieces on world 2, then I think you didn't get the point because up until that point it's just a beautiful below-average platformer.

i agree with your comment all Braid is a Yoshi story rip off

William, either you haven't played Yoshi's Story or you haven't played Braid. Which is it?
Oh, Braid... right. You obviously don't get Braid. It is not a platformer so much as it is an action-puzzle game with platforms and jumping.

Honestly, I didn't understand the hype. But after watching a friend pick up the demo, I was impressed.
The art style and gameplay mechanics are beautiful. And it's a thinking man's game type of game... something woefully absent on the 360.

I am too glad I bought Braid. I hesistated when it was priced at 1200MS points, but am really glad I went for it.
I think this is one of those game I'll remember forever, like Sonic, Golden Axe, Streets of Rage, MGS, and Shenmue etc etc. It will be one of those games that burns into your memory for the rest of your life, trust me :)

Alright X3F...you win. After Madden Tomorrow and Castle Crashers later in the month, I will plop the cash down on Braid. I didn't dig the demo, but from what I've heard, it's too good to miss. (Plus I got a couple 1600 point cards for $15 at target today, that helps)
