Video: You too can skate 2 too
Behold the first in-game footage of EA Sports' sequel to skate, a chronologically numbered sequel appropriately titled skate 2. Set to the music of Public Enemy's "Harder Than You Think", this skate 2 debut trailer shows off some of the new skating moves, new environments and the new tricks. It looks like skate and it feels like skate, so it must be skate just with a number 2 attached. Anyway, give the trailer a watch and tell us what your early skate 2 impressions are.

Tony Hawk could learn a thing or two or seven from this game.

I put this in the category of a skateboarding simulator. You won't be hucking yourself 80 feet off of a building to the sidewalk below and rolling away from it (a la Tony Hawk Blah Blah), but you can still string together combos that even Rodney Mullen would be offended by. I'm glad to see that you can create a female character in the second iteration of Skate., too. So, now I've got Gears2, Skate.2, and Forza3 (sometime late next year/mid'10, so I've heard) to look forward to.
Looks like I'll finally have to invest in a 1080p TV and step up from my Arcade 360 to the Elite I've been eying once the price drops(hopefully).

Lets hope they don't go overkill on the additions to the game.
It will be like Mr Hawk all over again!

Agreed. It doesn't look too crazy, though. I would imagine the trailer is meant to look more active than what an average gamer like myself could actually pull off in the game.

Played the first and didn't enjoy it as much as I thought, too much like TH... very frustrating to hit the big tricks and too much expected of you. I'm hoping this one isn't as difficult.

I'm afraid I disagree, I hope that they do not make it any easier than the first Skate. While, I heard many people complain of it being too much for them, I found it a relief to have to actually learn it and practice it, and get very good at it. Tony Hawk gets boring real quick because of it's ease, you don't appreciate any moves because of it. I've been playing it since day one now, and I can do just about anything in the game, that's not bragging, it's just not as hard as some make it out to be. Simple finger motions, timing, and a little know how on how to approach a ramp or rail or whatever. Luckily, this question was raised in an interview I was reading the other day, and BlackBox responded by saying they aware what making it easy would do to the whole idea and fun of the game. Add more difficult tricks I say. I remember the first 180 flip I landed in the game, nothing too hard to do, but it felt awesome cause it took me more than one try, and I felt connected with it. Skate has a sweet formula, and Skate 2 seems to be ready to unleash even bigger and better fun.

The game plays better in the XBOX360.
The PS3 version has a framerate problem as it was reported in gamespot

On the Contrary you said it right, skate is everything I have always wanted in a skateboard game since thps 1. Since day 1 ive always tried to make tricks look a feel real in tony hawk, skate a bench and just do a clean back tail but it never worked out. Then out of nowhere ea skate came on the circuit, and the trailer blew me away, but that's not even compared till when I bought it the first day whoaaaa I was falling outta my seat damn this game was tight. It literally had everything I have ever wanted plus more, plus its high def, I pay mad homage to electronic arts for putting out the best and my favorite game ever. Now this trailer even showcases more things you can do witch I am excited about, but mostly I can wait to play it, cause I am sure the graphics, physics, levels are gunna be that much better. Also I am glad there are not many haters on the board dissing this game either cause they really don't know what there talking about. My gamertag is bhollaz add me up on 360 kids, I am ranked 140 in skate online, I know I am no bawj, but I am pretty f'n good, got made styz
peace out
