In what will go down as the earliest posting of a Bungie Weekly Update in history, team Bungie has pulled back a tiny corner of the veil that new
Halo 3 multiplayer map in development Purple Reign is under. No, we don't get any screenshot love, we get more of an artsy, freehand computer drawing of the map colored purple using Photoshop. But you get the idea. And even if you don't get the idea,
maybe PAX will bring more Purple Reign goodness. Spec!
Also, with the new Purple Reign drawing comes confirmation that, next week, Bungie will be revealing specifics regarding
Halo 3's second title update. How happy we are to hear that the BR will not be affected.

Bungie was originally going to show an in-game screenshot but MS canceled it at the last minute, thus the hand-drawn pic above...

I remember Bungie said they had a map in the works bigger than Sandtrap. Does anyone else remember this, or am i just crazy. I thought it was Purple Reign, but I guess I was wrong.

They said this will be brand new, but the descriptions given makes me think it could be a remake even more.

I think don't be expecting any new games from Bungie any time soon whilst they can milk the cash cow that is Halo 3 maps.

The BR should be fixed. Right now the spread is too large to be effective at long range.

Hey, how about this: Open a new blog called "Bungie Fanboy" or "Halo3 Fanboy" or some such. Barely a day without a Bungie news crumb? Should be worth blogging about.
YAWN!

It kinda looks like a scarab but that would probably be to small of a map.

I bet you guys its probably a remake of midship, which I might say I would enjoy. Some people hated that level, but I thought it was decent.

The BR in Halo 2 was a hitscan weapon which meant it hit where your reticule was when you pressed the trigger. With the BR in Halo 3 you need to aim ahead of your opponent at longer ranges and have them walk into the bullets (like Lancer fire in Gears).
The current problem with the BR isn't the leading though, it's the spread over distance. The bullets get more random and spread out at longer distances. This means at longer ranger BR fights can come down to luck as your bullets may spread out more then your opponents even if you both had perfect aim.

I can have perfect aim with my AR, Pistol, Carbine or whatever else with a spread and still not kill someone...Why should the BR be different and be a perfect weapon?

The only thing that makes sense is the Carbine and you can't use that on every level. Any spread for the pistol and AR shouldn't make a difference considering they are both close (er) ranged weapons.
You are asking the wrong question. Either your current one doesn't matter when everyone spawns with a BR, or it's already overpowered when you spawn with a AR.
