Offered as today's deal of the day, Unreal Tournament III is the latest action packed title from Epic Games -- you might also know them as the guys behind Gears of War 2. Speaking of Gears 2, Unreal Tournament III includes an extra incentive as it features footage of the upcoming Xbox 360-exclusive shooter. We say the footage was the new hawtness, but we already featured it a while back.

They should just sell it for $50 and get it over with I mean come on without the Mods its kinda like half a game.
MS you get hacked no matter what so whats the point of keeping such a closed online service?

Mods were one of the things I was happy to leave behind when making the jump from an avid PC gamer into the realm of consoles.
You join a server, wait 20 minutes to join while all the extra crap you need for the mod downloads, then you get into the game and have no idea what is going on or why your gun is shooting some stupid goo junk that you've never seen before. No one else knows what they're doing either and is just running around in circles, except for the 3 guys that actually know what the point in the mod is and are yelling "SPAWN A GUZNIK AT THE DROP POINT YOU NOOBS!!!" to which you're just thinking to yourself "what is this motherfucker talking about?". Then, you invite a friend and by the time he's done with his 20 minutes of downloading you've had enough of the crappy mod and are ready to move on to a new server to start the process all over again.
Sure, there are exceptions with mods that become mainstream like Renegades in Tribes 2 and Counterstrike in Half-Life, but I can't see anything like that happening on a console for a long, long time. Instead, it's just piles upon piles of crap that gets in the way, and any hidden gems aren't worth the effort to find.

After playing a PC demo of this, and seeing the online communities die off rather quickly on both PS3 and PC, I think I'll be skipping this one.
I've actually been playing the heck out of Shadowrun lately (of all things), and the online community in that game (while on the small side) is usually pretty fun to play with, well behaved, and generally understands teamwork and team tactics better than most of the hate-spewing kids on Xbox Live.
Back on topic: I really used to dig the UT series, but this one just seems to be lacking that special something.

As an ex-owner of the PS3 version, I wouldn't compare that to the XBL community because that version never had a chance. The online setup in that version was so fuxxored it just wasn't worth it to jump through all the hoops just to play the game online with friends and be able to talk.
XBL should remedy that, as every feature that was broken in the PS3 version is something that's handled by Live on the 360 version.

No, it's because it's been 9 months since it came out on PS3.

Yeah but then you actually have to play it on the PS3.

@ ESC:
The only reason MGO is doing so well is because every freakin person that bought a PS3 for gaming bought MGS4. Besides BluRay its the only reason to have the system and the players are now wanting a multiplayer experience.

It's not worth my money to play this game a year after it comes out. It doesn't have the same appeal to me when I get the game I wanted a year later. Also can't be good for sales to give 360 users the leftovers of your product.
Love UT, but not worth it now.

I bought it off Amazon, mainly because there was a book I wanted to order anyway. If I end up not liking it, I'll loan it to my brother-in-law. I've actually never played any of the UT games, so I won't really know what I'm missing I guess.
I still have to pick up Battlefield: Bad Company, though.

I did. 12 months ago on my Xbox. I'm not a whining fanboy. I enjoy video games. I play all the systems. Neither MS or Sony pay me for marketing, so I'll play both and call em like I see them.
