SF beta has issues, but no patch will be released
According to numerous posts over on the Capcom forums, the Super Street Fighter II Turbo HD Remix beta is a bit problematic. All kinds of beta participants are experiencing a few bugs, network issues and, even worse, complete lockups. Thankfully, Capcom hasn't turned a blind eye to unsatisfied Street Fighter beta participates, acknowledging the issues, but admitting that they will NOT be releasing a patch to fix the beta. The reason? It's a beta and the reason people are playing is to discover said bugs. The other main reason is because "resubmissions would cost a fortune and not go live for weeks", seeing that any new code changes would have to go through MS cert.
So, be happy with your SSFIITHDR fun, even if it isn't the most stable chunk of code in the world. To do our part in making unhappy Street Fighter fans smile, we've embedded the latest, bug free beta video footage above. You're welcome!

What?! These backgrounds and characters were stolen from Limbo of the Lost!

I was thinking the same thing. Capcom outsourced the art; if they had been made aware of the situation earlier they certainly would have removed them before releasing the beta. They're investigating the allegations now.

So I got a chance to play this last night. Maybe I've been ruined by the current caliber of games these days, but it's just street fighter. Meh.

How is it that certain other Beta's are able to release updates that fix or unlock things?
Seems like a silly excuse.

Are you talking about betas for blockbuster games with huge budgets and that retail for $60? Because this is an XBLA title that's going to retail for $10 or so and I assure you won't sell anywhere near as many units as Halo 3, as it appeals to a rather niche market. You understand that not all games have the same size budget, yes? Resubmissions that look expensive to a team working on an XBLA game with an XBLA game sized-budget probably don't look nearly as expensive to a team working on a AAA big budget title with a AAA big budget. Does it still seem like a silly excuse?

Fucking pricks. Not patching it due to gameplay issues is one thing, but not patching it when the game doesn't even fucking work AT ALL for a huge chunk of people is pretty scummy after pushing it as a reason to pay for the Commando 3 game.

If you think access to a beta (keep in mind what a beta is, there are going to be tons and tons of bugs, that's the whole point) for a limited amount of time is a reason to buy another game, you've got a screw loose. No it's never worth it to pay for one game so you can do free work for a company on another of thier games. Commando 3 stands on it's own though, it's a great fun when played co-op.

Thank god I didn't get suckered into buying a game I would probably never play just to have access to the beta. Even though I would use Ken anyway, I'd rather do without the hiccups and wait for the full version anyway.
