if they make cod4 in a world war 2 environment ill be happy. just the co-op alone could be great.

They're going to have to really wow everyone to overcome the animosity generated by going back to WW2 material. How many times do we have to play the same damn war in games? I wonder who will win this time...

There's lots of good potential left in the WW2 genre... but Treyarch isn't going to give that to us :P
We'll just get another COD3 - shoddy controls, crappy levels, and just painful gameplay...

I was going to post that exact thing! Who doesn't know what Lucky Charms are? Who doesn't know that they are "magically delicious"?

Hey I wonder if people are going to mention how Treyarch is developing this game instead of IW in here?

I remember seeing the first gameplay footage from COD4 right here on this very site. I remember being amazed and the anticipation began. Next was the beta and the good times kept coming till the game finally came out.
here we go again, minus the excitement and good game.

^^ I remember seeing "COD4" and instantly shrugging. Then I saw it wasn't WW2, and watched intently.
Now, imagine my excitement for another WW2 COD game.

Well . . . I wouldn't trash this game yet. Apparently, Treyarch is taking this game to a slower-paced, survival-horror type atmosphere. There really is potential here. You know how you feel when you're in a shooter to 50 and it's tied 49-49 and you're like "Oh, crap!" and your pulse races.
Well, if they can replicate that adrenaline-rushed fear the same way Epic did it with the "paintball scenario" in Gears of War . . . then this game could be really, really cool. Don't know it 'til you've seen it.

Why would they slow it down when the adrenaline filled COD 4 is what everyone is loving right now and wanted more of?

i don't understand why people want these fast paced crap fests were you cant even think without getting a bullet to the head, adrenaline for me comes out of being immersed into an environment and watching my surroundings like battlefield or rainbow 6 and hell maybe even a little grand theft auto. not unreal, cod4, gears of war etc.

Saturday morning cartoons, those still exist? I was under the impression that kid friendly nature shows and home renovation shows were the only things on Saturday mornings.
Anyway.. Treyarch MAY (capitalized for emphasis) do well with World at War. CoD3 wasn't bad, but compared to 2 and 4, it's way inferior. Everyone's waiting for them to F-up with this one and the pressure is on, I'm expecting them to put out a decent WWII shooter. Given the time they had to work on this one, the fact that they're using the CoD4 engine, and the fact the last (console oriented) Pacific Theater game was the over-cinematic (read: non-realistic) MoH: Rising Sun... World at War might not be a giant turd. At least wait until it's out before saying worst game ever.

Having worked on the original call of duty and the first expansion with both IW and Grey Matter (turned into Treyarch) here's my take:
Working with Vince, Grant, Jason and the rest of the IW crew was on of the highlights of my professional career (I am out of gaming now). Top notch crew, atmosphere, and just a willing to create. They are truly innovators in gaming if you go back to their days at EA.
I can only speak on the expansion they did - they (Grey matter) were under a gun from the big boys above and didn't have much room to add stuff that they wanted. I will say that the group assembled there at the time was INCREDIBLE to work with as well - I felt very fortunate to work back to back with such great groups. Individually their talents there are awesome and some of the stuff cut from the game was truly awesome. I understand that a lot has happened since Grey Matter got absorbed by TreyArch, etc...blah blah. Here's the thing and this is NO DISRESPECT to the gang at TreyArch - but IW is MLB and TreyArch is the AAA baseball - when it comes to COD.
All that said, I am SURE that the decision to go to WWII was not the individuals at TreyArch but some corp suits....if any of you know them personally ask them (not on forums - they can't tell you the truth there!) if they wouldn't rather have access to COD4:MW stuff (not just the engine).....
I am disappointed that we will have to retread WWII again with COD and that we will PROB have to wait for IW's next continuation of the MW series (No MMO PLEASE!)
See you guys on Live - Domination!
