C&C3: Kane's Wrath - Command Stick Trailer
As real-time strategy games have their moment in the sun on the Xbox 360, the question of control always lingers. Can a controller simulate a mouse and keyboard properly to play an RTS?
The answer is no. It can't. That's why developers are rethinking the way RTS games handle on consoles and so far they've been pretty successful. Now the question is based on speed. Command & Conquer 3: Kane's Wrath introduces a new scheme to the mix hoping to correct that problem with the new Command Stick. Promising to reduce the amount of clicking required to complete simple tasks like building your base and training new units, the Command Stick is expected to speed up the overall experience of the console RTS.
The video is embedded in low quality above, but for those purists who need to see it in HD jump over to Big Download and download the full trailer in its high-resolution hotness.

It does look a hell of a lot more efficient than the old C&C method, pressing right on the dpad like 10 times to get to the more important structures got old fast. Makes me wonder why nobody thought of this years ago. Let's just hope that this wheel allows you to set waypoints on the fly too. Going back to base for the units you just built doesn't seem much better than going back there to build them

Also how can't I comment on Xav's posts the first time? I always have to copy my message and then try to post it again. Quite inconvenient :(

It's a console...that's the entire point of a console. To play games from the comfort of your recliner on your tv. Unless you happen to have a chair with a built in mousepad it's going to be awkward.

This vid just give me great hope that C&C:RA3 is going to be the best RTS ever made. Plus I might not have to get it for my ever so fast VISTA powered Dell.
As for the keyboard n mouse thing... it would be nice but it aint gonna happen

It's not like this system hasn't been implemented before though. Although it has a couple more levels in it, it's the same system as the ratchet and clank weapons selector... on the PS2 =\

It looks pretty much like the system they use for the first Trauma Center on the Wii. It is damn efficient I have to say. It will be a treat to play C&C with that!
