Coming soon from The Collective is the fifth game in Konami's Silent Hill series, recently renamed Silent Hill: Homecoming. From the 11 new screenshots we've snagged it appears that the California-based developer has captured the creepy atmosphere of the original Silent Hill games. Since it was announced that The Collective would be developing the latest entry of the series, and not the original Konami team, fans have been somewhat reluctant to get on board with the game. While it isn't set to release until the fall, the game at least appears to be a step in the right direction.

If this homecoming is as scarey as my homecoming date, then it will be the scariest game of all time! and the skankiest game of all time!

Hahaha, cute!....
Kudos for X3F to continually follow the Survival Horror genre, by the way.
Well...you know..as much as I love the genre, these 11 new shots don't show me much to really get all THAT excited about. I know the 'Darkness shift' happens in real time now, which sounds incredible (and much expected after seeing the film in theaters), but as for gameplay, I'm carefully watching and waiting to be wowed. The Collective has plenty of time to add SH:H's own flavor, which I feel at this point it is still lacking.
Alone In The Dark is looking better and better however; a new tech demo featuring the physics of fire is now online. Can't wait to be in Central Park!

I don't think people should be so worried- Silent Hill: Origins for the PSP was a good game and that was done by (I think) a UK developer. I love the premise of Homecoming and I think it'll turn out alright (it better XD).

I've got to say, these screens aren't wowing me. The texture work and character models leave a lot to be desired. I'm nitpicking, but the models and textures don't look like they've had the same attention and care that went into previous games.

Richard,
From an inside source I am told these shots were taken from a build the devs use to test the game with faster framerate. If you look there aren't any normal maps on Shepard's coat. The actual textures including the water are much much nicer looking.
Spread the word, please.

I hope you're right, Ryan -- 'cause I'm totally with Ricard on this; these screens look like they're from an original Xbox game. :/

That's the first thing I noticed as well... why would they release screens at that low of quality? But what Ryan says makes sense... I can't picture them releasing a "next gen" game like that.
Anyone know much about the combat?
