Wow. It's real. We mean, really real. Sure, for months we've been reading, writing and thinking of nothing but Grand Theft Auto IV but it's only hitting us now that the title is only a few days away. Thanks to a user on the GTAForums we have confirmation that the title is hitting retailers, presumably to prepare for launch events. The special edition above comes in an over-sized box that includes the game, lock box, soundtrack and duffel bag. With only seven days standing between you and virtual carjacking bliss we ask, are you ready?
[Thanks, Jason]

Actually yes I am, I wasn't sure if I could get back into GTA but they seem to have done alot for the people who have become burnt out on the series.
I work at gamestop so I'll probably be working the midnight release for it.

Ok, so apparently that whole "The game has gone gold!" crap from a few days ago, was, infact, a load of crap (since they couldn't possibly have printed them all that fast, and packaged them, and shipped them etc).
I'm a little bit bummed that the actual box isn't different in any way, so it won't stand out on my shelves. This doesn't sound like a big deal, but it's much easier to find something like Halo 2 in it's metal case, than it is to find Ninja Gaiden in it's normal looking case. After seeing this, I'm considering getting a refund on my pre-order, and just getting the actual game by its self.
On a final note, how close do you assume these will be in proximity to the standalone game? Imagine some little brat with his mom, walking into a game store, only for his mom to see that box, think the game is pr0n, and refuse to buy it for the kid. If only COD4/Halo 3/etc had a box like this, that parents might actually freaking notice, and go "Wow, this might not be appropriate for my little monster". We'd all be alot better off.

I had a dream today, I dreamt that I had GTAIV on my hands, but I kept saying, it cant be, its not out until the 29th. Then I looked at the date and it was the first of may, I got excited and put it into my 360, which looked like a laptop for some reason. Then I started playing, I was on a weird island, but it didn't look right. I was playing it on an sd tv, then I realized, wait, I don't have an sdtv in the house. Crap, then I woke up, and realized it was the 22nd. :'(
Stupid brain.

Check on the forums or the web sites to see who has GTA early on on their live account, if they are smart they disconnect from live altogether.

I can't wait. I'm even cutting back on my 360 usage just to make sure it doesn't crap out before GTA IV is released, which is pretty sad. This week is going to be an eternity waiting for this game. :-(

As someone that also has a launch day 360 that has yet to RROD, I'm taking very serious precautions to avoid fail come the 29th.
Precaution 1: Looping the Blue Oyster Cults "Don't Fear the Reaper" (the extra cowbell edition)
Precaution 2: Pointing a fan directly at my 360 to cool it, even when it is off.
Precaution 3: Playing Air Guitar, Instead of Rock Band.
If you too take these 3 simple precautions, you can avoid the dreaded RROD.

lol, you should also cover it with Fonzie stickers, so it stays cool.

I got RROD three days before Halo 3 release. So I now have 2 360s... I wasn't waiting a month when I had a Halo 3 preorder. I shouldn't have a problem now, as one of the 360s is my wife's and she plays maybe 3 hours a week.
