In a move reminiscent of what happened on April 1 (twice in one month MS, for shame!), Microsoft has announced that Xbox Live will be down for maintenance. Only this time instead of going down for only three hours, the service is scheduled to be going down for eight hours. According to Major Nelson, everything will be down from 2am to 10am Pacific Time on April 21. That is a Monday, so traffic would likely have been a bit light, but this does mean that those with downloaded content from a previous console will not be able to access their games. Just so long as it's maintenance of the type that prevents any kind of the hitches the service has seen in its recent history, then it should be worth it. Well, at least we're forewarned.

Yeah, it's getting a few servers online for the massive GTA4 surge when everyone decides to check out MP first.

This had better address the Apple Time Capsule connectivity problem....I've been off of Live now for weeks while I've waited for a patch. I refuse to buy a bridge for this and running ethernet cable simply isn't an option as the 360 is on another floor from the router/modem. My online gaming has been forced to my PS3 and I hope that doesn't become permanent.

I think that's Microsoft last priority to fix.

If you downloaded the content on a console that was repaired, you can repair the licenses on all the DLC, which would allow you to play it during the outage. FYI.

yeah, but those of us whose disc drive broke and bought a new console rather than pay the $99 to get a ^*%*#$ing crappy used console back are screwed.
eventually everyone's consoles are going to be out of warranty... oh what fun the internets will be when that happens..

You do realize that each time zone is adding an hour or a half towards Europe when starting in the US? So the maintenance starts at 10:00 UTC/GMT.
