X3F TV -- Call of Duty 4 Variety Map Pack video tour
Giving gamers four more reasons to go online with Xbox Live's most popular shooter, Infinity Ward has released the first downloadable content for their 2007 smash-hit Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare. For 800 MS points the map pack adds familiar environments from the single-player experience as well as a modernized revision of a classic Call of Duty 2 map.

Broadcast
With it's size and alternate routes, Broadcast is a must for large team games. The multi-floored media facility overlooks a collection of buildings, perfect for sniper fire. With it's multiple vantage points, tightly wound office spaces and roof-top access, Broadcast is sure to become a fan favorite.
Chinatown
A revision of the classic Call of Duty 2 map Carentan, Chinatown brings players into the foggy night life where the full moon lights the battle below. With multiple interiors, windows overlooking the courtyard and an intricate rooftop design, Chinatown is perfect for any size party and gametype.
Creek
A secluded village getaway doesn't mean this creek is a nice vacation spot. With sniper friendly foliage, a deep ravine perfect for ambushes and an underground cave, Creek is an extensive map for large scale operations. Creek is a dream for an ambush plan, just hope you aren't walking into one of your own.
Killhouse
An enclosed warehouse made up of plywood structures primarily used for S.A.S. speed tests, Killhouse is ground level carnage waiting to happen. You'd better enjoy respawning because in Killhouse you'll always be coming back for more.
Overall the maps are four solid additions to the title and fans of the series have undoubtedly picked them up by now. While directly ripping the environments from the single-player campaign may rub some the wrong way, there is enough new material to warrant the purchase. If you're still heavily into Call of Duty 4's multiplayer experience, you can't miss the variety map pack.

I'm all for them in deathmatch, but on S&D there's 2 set spawn points, lots of people can kill you from spawn, which I don't see the point in, it sucks and wrecks the game for everyone.

While we are at it, lets ban random grenade tosses from across the map.
The new maps are good, i spent the weekend with them, but there was a lot of lag making some games unplayable.

The n00b tube thing, sure I'll cop to it. But that toss wasn't random.
That sniper and I were going at it for a while and I wanted to cloud his view while I set up to get the kill.

SPAM GRENADES!!! 3x grenade perk, all day long. It's so, so... SO NICE. It makes me happy knowing that the guy I killed just said, "WTF was that?! That's total BS!"
Good times, good times.

Killhouse is not in team death match play list.
I guess it's too small.
Creek is a sniper heaven.
Broadcast is good.
Chinatown is hands down the best map.
IW better have a new play list integrating these maps into the old ones.
All in all, not a bad purchase.
But definitely for hardcore fans only.

Killhouse looks like it'll be good for Domination.

It's funny how EVERYONE already flocks to the rooftop of Broadcast. (And how I seem to be able to peg EVERYONE up there with my M4 Carbine....:) )
I love all of the maps (yes, even Creek despite the fact I don't snipe all that much). Spent close to twelve hours playing Friday overnight and about 5 hours on Sunday night just in the Variety Map Team Deathmatch hopper.
I really, REALLY hope IW puts on Double XD weekends again!

I liked the maps. The double xp was cool and all. I really liked broadcast and creek. I by far played them the most. I only got a few games in on Chinatown. The only thing I found was that Chinatown was a bit dark for my liking. I guess I just need to up the brightness for it. All in all a good buy. I hope they intergrate them into the standard playlists as I enjoy many of the old maps as well and playing combo would be awesome.

I thought I was going to hate Creek because I'm not that great of a sniper, but it is even better for people who just want to run along the ridge and pick off snipers who are too busy looking through their scopes.
I played a lot this weekend.

I had recorded it. What I said was pretty much the descriptions of each map, but there was some audio syncing hiccups in the process of editing the video so we just opted to release it sans commentary.

I'd just like to add my two cents in on this and say that I was happy there wasn't any commentary, actually. It felt more professional (but who cares about that) and I was able to get into the snippets of the matches more. Might not be a terrible idea to release two versions of these features in the future, one with commentary and one without.
Anywho, really glad you put this together Xav. Taught me some new tactics, too, heh. Noob tube.
