Video: Uncle Gary teaches Saints Row 2 lessons
After hearing about Saints Row 2 getting an August release and at the same time only receiving a not teaserific teaser trailer, we went searching for some actual Saints Row 2 gameplay videos. You know, to see how things are progressing over at THQ. And after our lil' search concluded, we came across three Saints Row 2 video gems. Videos that give us a glimpse at the game's gameplay and showcase some of the game's features all through street lessons taught by that "interesting" dude Gary Busey. No joke, it's the one and only Gary Busey. We'll let the videos speak for themselves (one embedded above, two after the break), but be prepared. The Saints Row 2 gameplay is promising, but Uncle Gary is (how do we put this nicely) ... moderately crazy?

Gary Busey is insane. I hope this game is good because I really enjoyed the first one. Perfect timing too as I'm sure by then I'll be done with GTA4(Depending how good its multiplayer is).

Wow some really cool ideas. This should be very fun.
This is doing to GTA what Skate is doing to THPS
(forcing it to move forward)

....But GTA4 already moved forward and ahead of SR2.
It's more like what Ratchet & Clank or Jak or something, compared to Mario Galaxy.

GTA is not ahead of saints row 2. If anything GTA is just cathing up to saints row 1.
I highly doubt GTA4 will be better then saints row 2 considering how much better SR1 was compared to GTA 3-3.2

Totally agree. For one SR1 has more customization than GTAIV and with SR2 coming, well let me just say if you haven't witness the customization that you can do, not just your main character, but your crib, cars, and gang. You would laugh at GTAIV. I hate to say it but as a halo fan-boy, halo 3 really disappointed me. It was all hype and nothing really was changed to the series, just oohs and awe's, but nothing major. That is how GTAIV is going to be. A lot of people are gonna fall for it and be disappointed, and take the game back or vote SR2 over GTAIV period. Then, rockstar will have to play catch up and send out the exclusive DLC out before SR2 sends there's.

Yeah! Saint's Row is sooo much better than GTA!
I mean.. freckle bitches?
High brow smart writing right there.
SR is the Guns and Roses of open world games.
Made for mentally inept people who want to feel special about themselves, and see explosions.

The Master of Truth and Justice - Yeah, sure, and GTA is for Harvard grads only, right?
Don't be bitter because the game you fawn over isn't the end-all, be all. The fact that you compared it to GNR shows your music knowledge is about on par with your gaming knowledge. Now go outside and play, the adults are having a conversation.

I think Gary laughing at the end of each of the videos may have sold me on this game.
I'm actually more interested in this game now compared to GTA4.

ROFL at SR fanboys. SR1 wasnt particularly terrible, but to say it was better than GTA:SA is ludicrous. Sure ill give that it was a little better than GTA3 and VC (though most certainly not in terms of story or replay value) but San Andreas totally blew Saints Row out of the water. See GTA games dont focus so heavily on customization because they focus on making the game fun, not pretty.
Then again, maybe all the previews Ive read are wrong and the game will be garbage and SR2 will de-throne GTA as the king of the sandbox. Im not holding my breath on that though.

APB will kill GTA anyday so will SR2 you will see. What customization does GTA have besides the basics. Get the Fu#k out of here. Seriously!!!

Read my comment. GTA doesnt need to focus on customization. Who the fuck cares that you can paint your car and hideout and change into a million pairs of clothes. GTA focuses on making the story and gameplay top notch, so you dont have to paint the game up to make it seem good.
I want to play a open world crime simulator. Not The Sims.

The GTA series beats SR in terms of story and presentation of its story.
But the first Saints Row WAS better then any previous GTA game.
It had a better weapon system. GTAs was clumsy, you had to search through a long list of weapons to get the one you wanted. It had better, and more original side missions then GTA. Like Insurance fraud. You could manually aim easier. You had more weapons you could use when in the side seat of a car. When in the side seat of a car, you could shoot in all directions, rather then the limited drive bys of GTA. Saints Row had a better law enforcement system. No Tanks, no army. The police had a field of view which you could see on the map so you can advoid them properly. Saints Row had a multiplayer mode. I also enjoyed Saints Rows semi- boss battles. Saints Row had more customization (which was fun). I mean, who doesn't want to walk around in a pimp outfit, holding a shotgun disguised as a pimp cane?
The truth is svenhoek, San Andreas was the same thing as Vice City. Only With a few new poorly put together ideas ( the RPG like elements being the worst). I know about a LOT of people who got bored of San Andreas quick. I mean, I didn't even actually get around to beating it untill 2006.
Saints Row felt like a GTA game. But it felt like the biggest step forward the franshise had since GTA 3.
Saints Row, was something the game world needed. A true competitor for GTA. Something to get Rockstar motivated. A lot of Saints Rows innovations are in GTA 4. Manual aim, 180 degrees to shoot while in the side seat, SRs police force, and multiplayer. I hope Rockstar made some cool mini-games/ side missions.
Before Saints Row, the biggest competitor GTA had was Driver. And other then the film editor, that franshise had nothing on GTA. I will be getting both GTA 4 and Saints Row 2. And I look forward to seeing how both of these franshises influence each other going forward. Competition is always a good thing.

You know what I just realized, that's almost funny? The fact that GTA gets so much crap, but I've heard nothing about people campaigning against Saint's Row, which actually seems like a more excessively violent and ridiculous game. I guess it doesn't have a catchy name, huh?
BTW I've enjoyed playing both games and look forward to these new releases.

This insanity is so logical.
seriously, lol, these easily rank as some of the best video game ads ever! Satchel charges have already been done, but maybe SA2 will do 'em even better. If not, the other two look fun. Hiliarious watching the stripper work the pole as the guy gave himself an air whack attack.

I always disliked the serious nature of GTA, it always felt a bit creepy, whereas SR has a great sense of humor, as is evident in this trailer. I'm getting both, but this trailer just totally sold me on the fact that I will have more fun with SR. I just hope you can customize your character to look like Gary Busey!
