Responding to a thread on the official Epic Games forums regarding a rumored May release for the Xbox 360 version of Unreal Tournament III, Epic's Mark Rein responded that no release date has been set. Rein noted that the Xbox 360 version would be featured for press at Midway's upcoming Gamers Day event in Las Vegas. Rein closed off his statements letting fans know that the Xbox 360 version of Unreal Tournament III was, "coming along really nicely." Let's just hope this version strikes a chord with fans at retail.

I really hope there is a Demo for UT3... I really liked Gears, but I've never played an Unreal game, so I need to try before I buy. Who knows? It might have really screwy controls I don't like.

it does have screwy controls you wont like. UT games are so fast paced its just a random fast running super fest. Theres no sense of strategy or skill since you are just running so fast and shooting. Also, in UT, flag carriers can shoot, making a team effort pointless, or at least thats how it was in older UT games. Stick with gears.

What got voted down there seems to be my exact description of Halo3, people get pissed when I say this but there doesn't seem to be much skill involved in it. UT3 though is a bit more skillfull then Halo just because its so much faster, you can dodge rockets and avoid peoples shots. I'm still not a big fan and I'm still waiting for Gears 2 rather than this.
Also how do you know about the controls? I haven't even read a preview on the 360 version so I suppose your just guessing.

I totally disagree with your view of UT but I disagree more with everyone voting your comment down. You have a legitimate opinion and didn't turn it into fanboy flamebait. These fanboy sites can get so ridiculous sometimes with there gung ho attitude. I voted you up, some of us like a different perspective on things.

Unreal Tournament = No Strategy?
Um...I take it youve never played the UT Series before? Perhaps you did and you got owned so you automatically hate it?
I can talk from experience...I'm good at 3D Shooters (Not real good, but certainly better then the average)...Ive been playing Doom, Wolfenstein, Duke3D, Quake1, Quake2, Quake3, Counter-Strike, Tribes, Unreal 1, Unreal Tournament 99, Unreal Tournament 2k3, Unreal Tournament 2k4, and UT3... Played them all online (back in the T.E.N. days)
Anyway, Of all those games, the one that requires the most skill was 2 of them:
Unreal, and Duke3D.
This comes from years of experience, about a decade. I've played Halo since it came out, and as most PC Gamers say, its multiplayer is too slow paced...great game, love the multiplayer, but just a tad too slow
Anyway, even if you were to ignore everything I said above, its a plain fact that the FASTER a game is, the MORE skill it takes. You cannot argue this... If people are moving around like crazy, you have to have very very precise aim, to be able to predict where they are going...compared to slow gamers, where its easier to keep your crosshair on the guy
So take my opinion, or take the faster pace fact...
UT3 takes skill. Those that disagree simply haven't played a UT game on a PC, or love Halo/COD4 too much and will be negative on any competition.

I really wish Epic would just forget about this game. Because by the time this game comes out Gears 2 will be right around the corner. So why would I pick up this game when I can get Gears soon?
Plus if Epic stops making UT3 the team can help make Gears 2 even better. So in doing so Gears 2 will be an even better game. So at the end of the day an already awesome game becomes even more awesome.

They have two separate divisions working on either game... You can't just combine the two, because that would make things even more hectic for those producing Gears 2.

UT was an awesome game (and even UT2004 is still a lot of fun), but IMHO time has long since passed it by. We've invented Counter-Strike, Halo, COD4, TF2, and a whole host of FAR better multiplayer games (with more teamwork, better balanced weapons, etc.) since the first UT came out.
And without mod support, I just don't see myself being very interested at all, especially since UT games often demand insane accuracy for many of its weapons, and I just won't be doing that on a controller.

This is a total frag fest type shooter. Its much different than all the military shooters or Halo or anything we have on the 360. I have always liked UT games, their fast paced frag fest is always fun. Especially one-shot kills. Those are always great fun!
It doesn't have much in common with GOW2 so I don't understand why people keep comparing it to that. Sure GOW2 is the big release but it doesn't mean this game will be bad. Its totally different. I remember playing many games of Quake, Original UT, Elite Force etc who all went by this type of gameplay. It was a lot of fun.
I just hope there will be a decent following on the 360 so we can get some games going.

People who diss on this game, then praise GoW make me angry.
For one, they have nothing in common, for two, UT actually DOES require smarts and strategy, when playing a good game, and isn't all "DAHURRR ME MAKEM BOOM BOOM!" like Gears was.
And anyone who thinks a god damned cooridor shooter is better than UT2k3-UT3 should be beaten.
It's not 1995 anymore.

They actually have a lot to do with each other seeing as they're both developed by Epic Games. What everyone here is saying is that they've played it and don't like it much and Epic Games COULD be spending more time and effort to make Gears2 sooner/better (a game we like a lot already) instead of trying to get UT3 to the 360.
Also, UT3 got an 86 (PS3) on Metacritic, Gears of War got 94 (360). I would much rather Epic work on a game that critics seem to say is better already to make it...EVEN MORE BETTER. dun-dun-dunnn._

@Tom: MetaCritic ratings don't mean a damn thing. And an 86 is a damn good score. Why people are worried that they are pulling people from GOW 2 to develop UT3 on the 360 is beyond me. That really doesn't make any sense.
Also the only thing they have in common is they are both by "Epic". The games themselves are totally different play styles. So comparing them or bitching at UT3 because GoW2 isn't out sooner is ridiculous. GoW2's release date I highly bet has nothing to do with producing UT3 for the 360. I think its unfair to be criticizing UT3 for these reasons.

Fine, if Metacritic doesn't mean anything, lets use VGChartz: Gears sold 5.10 million while UT3 sold .39 million.
"Also the only thing they have in common is they are both by "Epic"
Exactly what I said in response to "For one, they have nothing in common". The point is that the previous posters were just commenting on these two games by the same developer and that if Epic took the people working on UT3 for 360 and put them to work on Gears of War 2, then 360 owners would have a game they want more sooner (Gears2) than a game they're kinda "meh" about.
But lets not get too serious about this discussion, I know I'm making assumptions about having Gears2 sooner but whatever. It's just my opinion that I would rather have Gears of War 2 than UT3.
