We go ahead and announce a social gaming night and Xbox Live goes and hits the slow setting! According to some readers, Xbox Live is experiencing slowdown reminiscent of the Holiday '07 debacle. The general guess is that the popularity of the recently released Call of Duty 4 map pack may have a hand in the current network situation.
While some readers are experiencing login issues, download errors and general feeling of the service being dragged through molasses, we've been receiving friend requests for the last hour and a half for tonight's big game while connected to Xbox Live without any issues other than a slow performance from the Xbox Live Marketplace.
Even though Xbox Live is acting up we're still trucking along with tonight's X3F Live! So make sure to add the gamertag X3FLIVE to your Friend's list. Hey, now that we think about it, maybe the lag will help with our sniping!

same thing is happening to me in COD4.
Tells me theres an update, but disconnects me from live first, and then fails because it's not connected to live.
but then i get kicked out to the dashboard and it immediately connects again.
i have gone through this cycle 10 times. it's not a fun game.

I've been having network problems with Halo 3 for about a week now. It isn't on my end because I completely tore my network apart trying to fix it and with recommended and my best settings, it still happens. It is either more throttling from Comcast or something on Microsoft's end.

I just spent many many unnerving minutes trying to d/l the new COD4 DLC. Occasionally it actually lets me see the content available for download. Then naturally once that happens I can't add MS Points to start the download. Stressful! Damn you Microsoft, I am trying to spend money and you won't let me!!!

XBL may be slow, but as a Wii60 owner, I can confirm it's still harder, better, faster, and stronger than Brawl's online for sure.

I very much agree with this statement, as I'm also a Wii60 owner, and CoD4 is running smoothly for me at the moment. There has been some stuttering, but nothing ground-shaking. Meanwhile, whenever I play Brawl online, there's always slowdown.

Marketplace won't work, but everything else does for me. I haven't DLed the COD maps, but I could imagine they are not helping the situation.
