GHAero (that's the official X3F abbreviation from now on) is scheduled for a June release when gamers will be able to play alongside Steven Tyler and truly embrace their inner Aerosmith fanboy. The number of tracks, what sort of bundle, pricing information and word about whether or not the GH franchise has been whored out have yet to be confirmed, but one could expect all the specifics to be in line with previous Guitar Hero releases. Yah dig?
Activision also revealed that in celebration of their "groundbreaking" GHAero (man are we love that abbreviation) announcement, they will be releasing Aerosmith's "Dream On" to the XBLM as a free GHIII download. The free DLC will be available from February 16th through the 18th, so be sure to gobble that up before it disappears.

And that seals the deal.... guitar hero has officially "jumped the shark". GHIII focused too much on metal in the latter parts of the game for my particular tastes and left me a bit disappointed. Obviously looking at their sales they're making cash hand over fist, but at this point I'm worried that they'll just pump out overpriced garbage. Steven Tyler is ugly enough in real life. I don't need to pay $60 to watch a virtual representation of him. Brett Michaels was bad enough, I was worried I'd get some kind of STD just from holding the guitar.

Metal????
Lie Metal maybe.. or baby metal. I prefer "baby metal", it's more insulting than lie metal, and not as mean as 'tard metal (Though, not nearly as appropriate.). Now, if it had some REAL metal, you know, something with real and good melody, it'd be different.
That's what happens when you leave a music game to people who probably think "WOW BOY EXPLOSIONS HEE HEHEHE SKATEBOARDS! THIS IS SO COOL! SLASH!"
If you ask me, GH immediately jumped the shark when Slash was on the god damned cover.

yeah, slash on the cover continues to piss me off. they pretty much just whored out the series. they took a great franchise and sucked the life out of it in every way.

Guitar Hero 3 was a big dissapointment for me. Rock Band changed it up and made a great game, with a great group multiplayer career mode, however the lack of a good single player career mode.
Hopefully the GH guys know that a good career mode is what they need to stay fresh and innovative, unlike having stupid boss battles.

Lack of a good singleplayer career mode?
I guess I'm crazy because I thoroughly enjoyed the singleplayer drum campaign.
Anyways Guitar Hero went from a great and creative franchise to a soulless corporate money maker when Harmonix left, GH3 was extremely subpar and thats only the beginning. Its only a matter of time before Activision incorporates DDR dance pads and boss fights against Bam Mergera.

I don't get what the hell people's problem is here really. This isn't replacing Guitar Hero 4, and Activision has said that there will be a regular GH4 with mixed tracks. This is a supplementary, ADDITIONAL game. If you don't want it, just pretend it doesn't exist and then it's the same thing as if it actually didn't exist.
It would have been nice to see this released as a DLC pack, but it seems rather infeasible to include a download with ~60 tracks in it given that most of us are using meager 20gb hard drives.
Cool to see Dream On for free for GH3 too. GH3 is lacking in DLC frequency, but at least when they do it they do it right (free or with video previews if we're expected to pay).

No thanks. I'll gladly take the free track, and maybe rent the new game, but that's it.
