Bringing an end to January's HD DVD releases are three new discs that aren't blockbusters, but are dandy in their own right. Nothing overly special really. Fear not though, because in the weeks to come we promise bigger blockbusters, more excitement and an HD DVD dunking tank as well. So, while we wait for the blockbusters to appear and the dunk tank to arrive we can all huddle around the television this Super Bowl Sunday to watch a 2.7 million dollar HD DVD commercial. It has a strong possibility of actually being entertaining and is guaranteed to put a hole in Toshiba's wallet. Either way, it's a win-win for everyone. Here are this week's HD DVD releases.
- HD DVD Movie Releases: January 29th
- Dispatch: Zimbabwe - Live at Madison Square Garden
- King of California
- Strauss: Die Fledermaus

I like the contradiction there, but whatever.
HDDVD and Blu-Ray are both good, but in my opinion (being an X3F), HDDVD wins.
Burnt.

I think it's commendable that HD-DVD titles are still being released. Like the 8-track and unleaded gas, there are people out there who still use that stuff.

Whoa!! I saw a Blu Ray movie in Circuit City or some store like that and the movie looked better than the store around it.

2.7 mil on a SB commercial for HD DVD... thats almost as bad as CompUSA billboards in Burnout Paradise! But what else can they do, I suppose.
Its my fault everyone. Everything I choose goes down in flames... Laserdisc, Amiga, Atari Lynx, PSION Series 5, SEGA Dreamcast, Tapwave Zodiac, and now HD DVD. Sorry I didn't pick up a PS3 instead. Sigh.
Oh, and my HD DVD player didn't work right from day one UPS'd it to MS where it was lost. They are going to send me a new one though. And I'm on my third Xbox 360. But at least there support is great.
Also, six places I've worked at have gone out of business to include Cub Foods, Highland Superstores, Fretter Appliances & Silo Electronics.
You probably shouldn't even be reading this now. You may be fired tomorrow. Or you're favorite gadget will break. Or both.

master ninja,
Some stores have the item they want to sell set up right and not the competition. HD DVD has won plenty awards for picture.
edge,
I too had Amiga and dreamcast and my girlfriend worked a cub foods...and both stores i worked for closed (Parisoff's and Green Hills) and of course I too have HD DVD.
Let see, 3 million for ad or $30 off the next 100k players?
