Rainbow Six Vegas 2: Multiplayer, co-op and slots

The lads over at IGN had a chance to sit down with Ubisoft Montreal to discuss all things Rainbow Six Vegas 2, unveiling specific details about the game's co-op and multiplayer.

First up, Ubisoft decided early on to gear campaign towards co-op, making sure to have the idea of co-op gameplay in mind as they developed each level. Speaking of which, your friend will be able to join in a campaign game at any time to help out and earn the same achievements as you (a la Gears of War). On the multiplayer front, Ubisoft is focusing on more intimate maps, smaller in scale for the most part, which will force players into close combat. That isn't to say that there won't be larger maps to play in, it's just that they're aiming for tight quarters gameplay. Finally, for the RSV alums, Ubi confirmed that you will NOT be able to import your soldier from the original in the RSV2, but they'll still be rewarding those players with upgrades, an XP boost and some unlockables instantly. You know, because RSV gamers are vets and should be rewarded ... or something like that. Read the full interview after the jump.

this is great news. Co-op will get the most play out of me in story mode. I loved playing like that in Gears. Plus a friend of mine is a game producer and she got to play a early build of the game and all she told me was the game was amazing and way better than the first. Thats saying alot from her since she loved the first one and was always playing RB6V tournaments.

I cannot wait for this game.it might be the next game to play when im done with COD4 even though I felt like Rainbow 6 Vegas should have won military game of the year.

From the IGN article:

"Cambiotti: Yes, the SP story campaign can all be played through co-op with a friend. The host controls the teammates, and the guest is the 4th character in the story that helps you complete your missions. This can be done through online and offline and of course offline is accomplished through split-screen. As the question states, your friend can jump-in and out of your game at anytime. "

So I'm assuming that it's two player only. THAT is a mistake.

I loved the first vegas. But hated the multiplayer. The turning around doors feature slowed gameplay down too much.

To be honest, it looks like a remake of Rainbow six Vegas. I mean..i get it's a sequel but that very shoot out happens in rainbow six Vegas. :s

Looks like they remade it with fancy new graphics to me. o.0

I mean i liked the first but I'm skeptical, you can only have so many terrorist attacks on one city before it gets a bit stupid.

I have been eagerly awaiting this game, and hope that it is as good as the first.

The perks for vets of R6V sounds good, but I bet you have to be an elite or something. I only got Lt 2nd Class, but that was still 172,000+ xp, which is still an insane amount.

I hope they manage to debug online. I am really annoyed by all the glitches, and the fact that you can put an entire clip in someone and they don't flinch, whereas 1 shot kills you instantly. That needs fixing urgently.
