According to an inside source speaking to Joystiq, it looks like BioShock is being added to the ever growing list of games being adapted into films. The film is being considered by a major Hollywood studio and it is believed that said studio will utilize green screen techniques similar to those found in 300. In other words, expect a lot of computer generated underwater dystopia. Honestly, the story is fitting enough for a film adaptation, though we imagine a title change and a bit of fleshing out is in order. The environment though, is something that should not be touched. If there's one thing that should not be molested during BioShock's supposed transition to the big screen, it's the dilapidated yet beautiful world of Rapture.

I would think that they could do a movie based on Bioshock, like set in Rapture, have plasmids, Big Daddys, etc, but I don't think you can do the same storyline.
The facts that you never see Jack's face, and know all the twists ahead of time, won't translate well, I think.

You do see Jack's face. In those brief flashes where they show pictures of him with his "parents", both as an adult on a farm, and as a baby.

No, they're not...
They're going to give it to some retard , best choice Boll or Bay who's going to turn it into a super-hero zombie crap.
Unless they left it to Japanese. They could do some quality work. Compare JAP Ring and JAP Grudge to their US versions.

With a story and environment as Bioshocks, it could make a very good movie. Very large emphasis on could, so heres to hoping they don't 'hollywood' it up too much

I'm kinda doubtful the game's story could transition into the big screen. A large part of the drama a player felt from the story comes directly from being in a first person perspective. It's hard to feel the same sense of violation when you're an outside observer rather than the one being violated.

I think it could work if they talk more about the city of Rapture and less about Jack. If they try to make a film about some guy going around killing things it's not going to go anywhere.
Rapture has a rich art style and a good back story that I think could translate well into film. It depends on who they get to do it, and what studio decides to take it on.
