Well we never saw this coming. Oh, no, not by a long shot. Never in a million years did we think that ... oh, forget it. Of course, we all pretty much figured Far Cry 2 would be releasing on the Xbox 360. Considering a full three iterations of the franchise have appeared on one Xbox platform or another, it was pretty much a certainty. We do have an official announcement of the game from Ubisoft now, though, and that always makes us feel warm and fuzzy. It is interesting to hear that it is in fact just Far Cry 2 and not Far Cry 2: Bestial Rage or something, so we're assuming this is the same game that will appear on PC in Ubisoft's fiscal 08-09 (sometime between April 2008 and March 2009). Peep a gallery of screenshots from the PC version below.

This is actually quiet a bit different from the other Far Cry games and the engine has been reworked on and optimized for consoles. Also, they have changed gameplay mechanics quiet a bit with this game.

I know nothing of the Far Cry series. Anyone want to drop science for me? Are there any good ones for Xbox that are backwards compatible that I should pick up? or avoid?

Just pick up the far cry for the 360, its actually both games that were on the original xbox, but on one disc. It is worth noting that you have to completely beat the first game before being allowed to play the sequel.

Original PC version - one of the best games ever. Crytek (as in Crysis) developed this sprawling, innovative gem with long-distance combat, vehicles (the best at the time) and stellar graphics...
360 version - rehash with a different story, poor graphics.... fun but forgettable.
FC2 - not having Crytek involved means mediocre at best.

Gamestop has had this listed on their reserve list for months. No surprise.

Oh god please let this one be coop!! If not, what could you possibly add to the game. Co-op is the only thing keeping this game from reaching greatness. P.S. ps3 die a slow death!!!

Can the level editor from Far Cry please make a comeback in the sequel? Forge is great if you are satisfied with a fixed level style and layout and some randomly placed crates, but the Far Cry level editor had a lot more freedom when it comes to terrain, buildings and vegetation, let alone daytime setting.

You nailed it. I haven't bother to even mess with the Forge because it is so limited compared to FCI: Predator's map editor. I hope FC2 is just as sweet.
Predator was more than a rehash, There were all new game dynamics that were not in the Regular Xbox version. And please don't with the whole "PC better than anything in the World" thing. I love my Xbox for what it is, a kick ass gaming machine.

I hate you bastards bashing Far Cry Instincts. On the original Xbox, it was fun as Hell. Instincts Predator was just a rehash of the game with a little add on because Instincts was released so late in the original Xbox's life, but still had awesome graphics and fun gameplay.

If you had ever played Farcry on the PC then you might realize instead of childish name calling that the Xbox version was lackluster at best compared to the PC experience.
