It's amazing to me that each week Rock Band DLC comes out, and thus far I've only disliked two week's content (David Bowie, and this week). It's great because I know that even if this week isn't for me, next week may be.
It's awesome to see the stuff keep coming, and keep broadening the genres that Rock Band has to offer people.
While I secretly wish we'd only see Death Metal songs from here on out, I've found songs that I didn't know I've liked (All-American Rejects and 30 Seconds to Mars especially) through the DLC.
Guess I'll d/l that Black Crows pack and see how it sticks. ;)

Deff. need some more heavy metal. I think Crazy Train would be pretty good. Maybe something a bit more modern too, similar to how GH2 had "Six" from All That Remains.

I agree, except for the fact that I actually really liked the David Bowie pack.
At first I was really excited that all of this great DLC is coming out for Rock Band... now I'm just scared because I want to buy them all.

What happened to the complete album downloads? Didn't they announce that they were going to release a complete album from The Who on day one?

Seeing as Rush is my favorite Canadian band, I am wondering if they will ever get a master track from them, seeing as YYZ had no lyrics, Tom Sawyer was a cover, and this is a cover too. I'm sick of hearing as someone put it, "Mr. Tries Really Hard" instead of hearing the actual band itself.

I agree with #6... I'm a huge Rush fan but I'm tired of the lack of master tracks! Nobody can do Geddy like Geddy... covers don't cut it ;)

No interest in any of these, but I'm actually glad to see them not just pushing the same artists out every week...that makes me think that eventually I may see some stuff I actually like that I would never expect to show up.
...just give us more metal, please.

Rock Band just keeps pissing me off. I feel sorry for all the 12 year old kids out there who are learning about rock and roll from this game. It pains me to see "Hard to Handle" with an asterisks that says "as made famous by the Black Crowes". Hard to Handle was made famous the Grateful Dead and I have proof:

Plus, still no bands with black people in them. I'm keeping my Racist Rock Band boycott in effect until I see some Parliament Funkadelic DLC. I'm not buying drums if I can't play something funky with them. It's a complete waste.

Okay, first off, Hard to Handle is an Otis Redding song (a youtube clip is not actually doing research- there is much about the world of rock you have yet to learn)- yes the Dead covered it first but the Black Crows did make it into a big hit in the 90s (let's be honest here, outside of "Touch of Grey", the Dead never had a song enter the Billboard top 40 so to say they made any song (other than that one) a big hit is pushing it).
And for the love of all that is holy, if I have to hear you mention the phrase "funky drums" one more time, I'm gonna fly out to where you live and scoop your eyes out of your skull with a rusty spoon. Go buy yourself a George Clinton CD and a drum kit and shut the hell up already.

I'm protesting. I know it's repetitive, but it's civil disobedience. Nobody's gonna shut me up. Get your spoon and c'mon over. I don't listen to CD's but I've got tons of P-funk and Otis Redding vinyl over at the pad. You can try digging into my skull but it's pretty thick up there. We got ice cream in the freezer though.

Well, you'd better boycott Guitar Hero, too, as they said Higher Ground was made famous by Red Hot Chili Peppers and not Stevie Wonder.
You're missing the point. The phrase is meant to reference who made that particular version of the song famous. Guitar Hero wasn't emulating the Stevie Wonder version, and Rock Band isn't emulating the Grateful Dead or Otis Redding versions. The song is a cover of the version done by the artist referenced. Do we really need a full genealogy of the history of each song in the menu tag? Shall we include full writing credits, as well?
I get your point, and I understand your concern, but this is absolutely NO worse than people hearing these songs on the radio with no awareness of the fact that they're covers of songs by older bands. My wife's sister heard Alabama covering an N'Sync song and complained about how she hates when a new band has to cover someone else's song just to get popular. My wife couldn't stop laughing for several minutes before having to explain N'Sync was listening to Alabama in their cribs.

To which I say, sure, why not? A video game can do that, much better than the radio. Just have a little text box somewhere. It wouldn't hurt anybody's gameplay experience. Sounds like a great opportunity to use a goofy game to teach the kids something about American culture. I don't need a VH1 Behind the Music cutscene for every song or anything like that.
And I'm totally boycotting Guitar Hero too.

You should feel sorry for anyone who tries to learn solely from video games. Putting misleading information about the song they chose to use isn't going to teach people music history, and it'll probably anger people who hear the cover and expect the original.
People with Internet access and a little knowledge can find all they need to know about a particular song. People lacking one or both probably don't care anyway. (Having a 360 and no Internet connection ... unlikely, I'd guess.)
I managed to live through seeing "Radar Love: As Made Famous By White Lion" in Rocks the 80s. I'm sure you'll survive reading about the covers they used for Rock Band. (I could see an argument for using "as covered by" instead of "as made famous by", except then they'd have to draw two distinctions, cover/original and master/non-master, and that might get a little confusing for the average gamer.)

All good points, all good points....
I don't think anyone can discount the game, I've played it nonstop for the week that I've had it. And I agree, who cares about a cover of a cover of a cover. I wish they would only use master recordings, but if they can't and the song rocks or is fun to play.... WHO CARES! It's a flipping VIDEO GAME!!
On that note, bands that I would like to see on the game:
Sublime
Tool
Pink Floyd
Led Zeppelin(probably not likely, but they did just sign with Apple for I-Tunes)
More RHCP
Alice In Chains
I could go on forever....what bands/songs would you guys put on DLC's???

Of course, I would love to see some Pantera, and Tool, but what about some Hank jr. or Waylon Jennings or some Janis Joplin or Los Lobos, Your One bad mofo if you can get a 100% singing on Ozzy's Paranoid (which I did) and Waylon Jennings. Just a thought.
