And that's really all you can say about it. The surprise Duke Nukem Forever teaser that was announced last night is now on the internets for all to see, and we're left pretty much where we started. Well, maybe not exactly where we started, but we can definitely see the starting line from here. So, what's in the video? Assuming this is in-engine footage, it looks fairly pretty. Duke's biceps are excellently manly and full of bulging veins. There are pig monsters, squid monsters, and generic alien monsters. Duke spits out a trademark one-liner, which unfortunately falls a little flat. That's it. Roll credits. It's okay though. It's a teaser after all. Consider us teased. Now, 3D Realms, it's time to put up or shut up. Show us some gameplay footage or at least let us in on the ten year old joke.
Looks nice except for the fact that it shows absolutly nothing about the game at all, and game videos runs about as smooth as trying to use a pile of nails in a bag as a spare tire.
Overall, pretty weak stuff. Shows next to nothing--there's not much there to get excited about. I was really expecting more, but as it stands it looks like a publicity stunt at best. Duke Nukem Never Ever is still vaporware...
First off it's a teaser guys... It's not going to show the gameplay or anything else... I just hope it was not CG and that was in-game graphics because if it was then we are in trouble... They need to do much work (by hey it's only been 10 years!)...
I agree with dunnypop about how Nukem was innovative and how it changed FPS forever.... I mean before DN we could not jump, swim, or shoot toilets up! I hope they remained that way... Let's see something new!
Of course it's CG! All computer games use computer generated imagery. I think the terminology you're looking for is "pre-rendered." CG is really a cinema term used to describe computer generated characters and scenes in movies. In video games, all the images are computer generated, so it's really a pointless term.
And, I think those scenes there with Duke could go either way. I'm guessing they're in-game. You can do quite a bit these days using normal-mapping techniques.
I -loved- the old DN games, but in all honesty, this 'teaser' was painful to watch. What should have been funny made me cringe. What should have gotten me excited about this game only made me roll my eyes.
At this point they need to pull something absolutely amazing and groundbreaking to stand out from the sea of great FPS games that have come out in the last two years, not to mention overcome the negative expectations of everyone after 10+ years (obviously including mine) and the lack of....well ANYTHING that might indicate a game is actually being, you know, 'made' after this long (and this teaser does neither)
Yeah, not holding my breath, nor even excited at the possibility of ever playing it at this point. I am truly hoping the foretold full trailer can excite me or show me some promise, but I doubt it.
Maybe they just needed more of ye olde investor dollars? I thought the success of Prey would keep them doing, well whatever it is that they are doing there on a daily basis for a while longer.
I know they didn't develop Prey, just produce it, but I find it somewhat funny that Prey was another game that was supposedly in development hell for 11 (!) years. Maybe it is something of a twisted corporate tradition there.
Consider me underwhelmed. With the likes of Bioshock, Unreal Tournament III and Portal, I was expecting something a little more special looking than that.
I think that teaser was for the original X Box because there was nothing next-gen about it. Even that crappy Kane and Lynch demo with it's crappy graphic's blows this away. Still lots of work to do, but by the time it's released Duke will be using a walker and throwing cans of Ensure like hand grenades.

They should go with the Halo 3 formula and that Duke was frozen for 10 years until someone woke him `cause they needed him.
I think we're overdue for some gun toting political incorrectness.

man I forgot all about Duke Nukem and how innovative the game was during it's time... however things have changed.
the CGI / Character design looks like it was made 10 years ago.... and the last phrase was taken from the first game.

George B has confirmed that the teaser trailer, with the exception of the very beginning and the end, is all using the in game engine.
I thought it looked just fine. I miss my Duke. I want D3D to be released over XBLA.
The End.

Looked like real-time in-game graphics to me. If that was CGI, it was really crappy CGI.
