Just when we thought it was safe to record the Fancast again, the dreaded internet mongoose reared its ugly head once more. We had some recording issues this week thanks to the aftermath of the vicious winter storm that zapped the US last week. Still, a Fancast is expected and a Fancast we will provide in rain, sleet, or snow. This week, we discuss the success of Assassin's Creed, new Tomb Raider details, and delve into the ever vociferous high definition format war. Also, we should point out that we have a shiny new Zune link that will allow you to download the Fancast straight from the Zune Marketplace. Click. Listen. Learn.

Please, for the love of god, update the album art on the RSS feed so the album art on the zune doesn't look horrible!

Explain what that entails, please. Looks fine on iTunes. A photo of what it looks like on a zune would be helpful.

What he means Richard is that Zune is using the X3F banner (http://podcasts.xbox360fanboy.com/media/feedlogo.gif).
This looks terrible on the Zune because all other zune podcast stuff use square images. I wouldn't be able to tell you WHY it's doing this, just that Zune's xml reader clearly doesn't pick up on the tag, although the show description is just fine.

Another note, but the RSS feed and the new Zune Marketplace use the banner logo image.

It just looks like this: http://img86.imageshack.us/img86/5330/photo1ay1.jpg
All zoomed in, pixilated and horrid. The joystiq podcast has the same problem.

Haven't listened yet, but is Alex the replacement for Knuckles or is he just a guest?

I don't want to be whiny but I cranked up the volume and listened intently but I was still unable to make out a lot of what was being said, I'm not sure why you bothered with this 'cast.

I like him, convince him to be the new co-host. The Yoda stuff was priceless! Yoda should have a segment on the show. :)

Yuck. I don't like this Alex guy. He shouldn't even be a journalist. Bring back Knuckles or get some other temp.

Well the thing looks really wide and pixelated Richard on the Zune on account of the bigger screen. If you could I dont know, put in a higher resolution picture then it should be good.
Also, HD movies are great. I own just a 32" HDTV and the difference in both (DVD vs HDDVD/BluRay) is huge. The image is so much better. It makes you appreciate your HDTV.

David left to pursue other opportunities. His personal blog is at www.knucklesdawson.com, check that if you want to find out what he goes on to do.

Yea Rich, YOU sound like crap, Dustin does, and so does Alex! Get back to the old stuff!
I miss Knuckles already. :(
Fake playing Xbox...awesome!
Oh, it's going to take me a while to get used to Knuckles not being here. :(
I'm with Dustin, I don't like Foundry because its pure BS...The other 2 maps are WAY sick.
@Alex: I know how you feel about not having your 360. I'm with Alex too...achievements are a bitch but I love them! Btw, yea the 360 does play better than the PS3.
The Burnout Demo is UBER awesome! Dustin, we need to play that together! AHAHAHHAHAHHAHA Crackdown style Burnout! lol Dustin, there are only 3 events in the demo. The Frontline demo is pretty cool, but holds NOTHING to the Burnout Demo.
Alex nailed it...Assassin's Creed 2 confirmed.
Yes, we are getting hosed A LOT. We're paying 30% more for MSP and another 30% more per movie. Would that amount to 60% per movie?
LOL...Alex nice catch on that tomb raider comment.
Yea, the 360 is doing extremely well right now and especially in terms of games. And next year is looking promising already! :D
Hey, do you guys want me to post the fancast email again? I'm sure you guys want some more Viagra subscriptions.
Yea, I'm thinking the reason why movie tie-in games are bad is because their development schedule is crazy fast. I kinda wanna play Transformers...but then again I've heard the achievements are uber easy...
I'm with Rich. I really don't give a SHIT. I'll take a DVD instead of getting an extra format player. And Dustin too, they're just too damn expensive. And Rich, DVDs vs VHS and CDs vs cassette tapes is the whole issue of Digital vs Analogue in which digital reigns supreme. He'll be pissed off too...because not all the movies get released on either format.
Wow, that fancast was short. Pretty good, but I STILL can't get over the fact that Knuckles is gone. lol

I have to say bad times on this one. The dynamic of the fancast is not the same without knuckles. Maybe I'm being emotional, maybe it's my time of the month, or maybe it was the evil mongoose... but I say boo.

As I said during the show, what you didn't hear was all the times that I got dropped. After a few times, I was pretty disheartened and really just trying to get it done. Have faith, the Fancast will return to its former glory.
