Ubisoft has announced that Assassin's Creed has sold over 2.5 million copies worldwide on Xbox 360 and PS3. The game vastly outperformed the company's expectations, and Ubisoft further announced that the game is "the fastest-selling new video game intellectual property ever in the U.S." Not too shabby. On the heels of the good news, Ubisoft has raised its sales outlook to €840 million ($1.2 billion). Furthermore, the company expects to sell at least 5 million more units in 2007-08 (up 2 million from earlier estimates). It was also revealed that three Ubisoft titles, Tom Clancy's EndWar, Brothers in Arms: Hell's Highway, and Far Cry 2 have been delayed until Ubisoft's fiscal year 2008, which begins in April (the games were previously scheduled to release in early 2008). Finally, the Ubisoft will unveil more details on its incoming lineup of games and will disclose sales figures for the third quarter 2007-08 on January 23, 2008.

This just in: Gamestop stores have purchased 2.5 million used copies of Assassin's Creed from disappointed gamers who could barely keep their eyes open after playing the game.

haha nope. big sellers don't work that way. remember the original halo, and how long that took to come down in price. Gears is the same way.

They sure got mine, and within a week of release to boot. In my opinion, I totally wasted US$60 on AC - awesome game world, horrid mechanics, mountains of untapped potential, and the worst story I have encountered in a long time.

I hear you, Chris -- it's one of the most gorgeous game worlds I've ever seen. Too bad that the bulk of the gameplay is straight up last-gen. Not to mention the story has bored me to tears. What a dissapointment.
I don't care what Penny Arcade says about the post-credits payoff after you complete the game. Unless it's a naked hot lady fighting force battling a werewolf/ninja army with lasers in space, I'll be heading directly to Gamestop and telling them to put it in their computers to NOT allow me to reserve AC2.

I was so disapointed by the game. I logged over 30 hours playing it, and towards the end I was just waiting for it to end, only doing the bare minimum.
It is beautiful, but the controls were so sluggish, and the number of times I was killed because my sword refused to draw, no matter how many times I pulled LT or pushed the D-Pad. I also kept getting stuck on ledges, Crackdown worked so much better. And towards the end of the game the framerate really dropped, and I fell through walls all the time.
One good thing is I got 815 AP first run through without really trying, if you are an APW then you will love it. Although the AP are very glitchy, I unlocked some when I shouldn't have.
The end was disappointing, it didn't have one, just wait for the sequel, no ending at all.
I don't trade in games, but if I did, let's say I wouldn't be replaying this title.

Sweet, I should be able to get the game dirt cheap soon then.

Yeah, Ubisoft had better really take the criticism to heart if they really want a franchise out of this, I don't know too many people who are itching to buy a sequel...

I thought the game was fun has hell. I really enjoyed it. I'm sad that I can't go back and play it again... flag hunting aside, which I don't really want to do. They should release some DLC with more assassinations or something.

I want my money back too.. heck, I want the wad Jade stole too. Nah.. she deserved it. :P
In the end, Ubisoft pimped Jade to cover up the fact that what they were showing us was the whole game.. over and over and over again.

Atleast that one trailer had nifty music. I'll still rent it eventually, but I'm not gonna go check unless I already happen to be there.
Farcry 2 though, man bring on the new hotness.

I gave mine away to my nephew after 1 day, super boring, felt very unfulfilled after an assassination, like i did all that nonsense just for that.... I followed this game while it was being developed and hoped that it would be good,.... very disappointing. I wish ubi would have had the balls to release a playable demo on xbox live so i could have saved $60 bucks. My nephew didnt like it as well and sold it to gs after about a week.

Agreed. At least the flaming on Joystiq is somewhat entertaining - this site has turned into a real cryfest.

Huh..you must not read PS3 fanboy then. Every article is a sorry attempt at discreditting MS, pumping Sony up, are trying to do some form of comparison with the 360, and ending with, see...see...it's as good as the 360 and worth every penny. Teh P0w3r of teh C3ll lives on in their fanbot minds. That web site is a cry fest. AC is simply a dissappointment.

Rented it and I want my money back for that. Horribly repeatitive game. I gave it to a co-worker for the rest of my rental period because it got old really fast.

I wanted to give this a fair shake, especially after reading Tycho's defense of the game. But I've been reading a lot of lostgarden.com lately, and I realized that I usually keep playing games to uncover and master new game mechanics, not for the theme/plot/story. Tycho basically admitted that within an hour or two you'll have full understanding of all the mechanics the game is ever going to offer, and you should stay for the story. Unfortunately, that doesn't cut it for me.
I hate to say, but I'm going to go back to RE4:Wii now. I have a bigger, badder shotgun to buy ;-)
