As
announced last week, the switch has just been flipped for the Xbox Live Video Marketplace to go live in both Europe and Canada. W00t to that! Canada, Ireland, France, Germany and the UK all have access to the Video Marketplace where Live subscribers will be able to purchase movie rentals and other Video Marketplace goodness. Currently, there is only a limited number of movies available and no television content, but we expect that to change in the near future. Though, we don't expect the
Canadian pricing to change anytime soon ... ouch. Anyhoo, welcome fellow Canadian and European fanboys, the Video Marketplace water is warm and welcoming.
[Thanks, Jade]

I'm in Canada and haven't been able to rent anything yet (it says that it's not available in my region). Also, for previews, only one has worked so far.
There is a message on the xbox.com support page saying that they're aware of, and looking into the problem.

Not planning on using the service at its current price point.
Pay more for MS Points and Pay more for movies... Basically M$ wants to fuck us in the ass and not even use any K-Y.
another epic failure

Thank God... the forums/blogs/etc can stop all of the usual bitching and moaning anytime anyone mentions VM.

I'd love to check this out by my 360 just died :(
Worst part yet, the hardware repair division claims by 360 is "banned" due to hardware mods, but the xbox live division says I am not banned. Got to love total cockups.

I' not touching this. iw as ok with the american prices but why are Canadians being charged a premium? We already pay more for the system, and the games, and the points. The whole points system is in place so prices are universal.
MS really needs to fire their Canadian branch people because they are fucking retarded.

I'm not touching the Canadian_prices_topic with a 40ft pole. The good news is that Halo Pictures are now available for silver members! That Grunt is just f****** badass! :)

How well does the HD stuff compare to BR & HDDVD?

Is it me or is the UK line up a bit sucky?
No TV shows, shoddy 2 - 5 year old movies? Come on MS, make those deals and get the TV shows up.
If you can afford to hand out 100 million dollar cheques to movie companies to go HD-DVD (See Michael Bay's comments), then you can get the UK some TV love!

Just as an update, they have reduced the prices slightly for the Canadian VM, but not by much. They have also changed Jade's interview to match.
Exerpt from the interview on xbox.ca:
Scott: The pricing is comparable to what you see in Canada for other video on demand services. For Library titles, movies will be 300 Microsoft Points (Standard Definition) and 440 Points (High Definition), and for Current titles, they’ll be 440 Points (SD) and 580 Points (HD).

Well I cant experience this either, my 360 died on the day of the system update, I sent off for my coffin which still hasnt come. Can anyone else in the Uk who has had there console die tell me how long it took for them to recieve the coffin and then how long they had to wait to get a refurb back? This is possibly the worst time it could have died, im sad, very very sad!!!
