Alright, let's get this out of the way. There are two games hitting the Xbox 360 this week. Those games are NCAA March Madness 2008 (wait, it's December, isn't it?) and Madden NFL Football 08 Español. So, if football is your thing, maybe you've got something to be happy about. Us, though, we're just a tad envious of the Playstation 3 this week. Those lucky Sony lovers can get their hands on Unreal Tournament III this week. So, congrats PS3 fanboys, you got one over on us this week. Enjoy it while you can. We guess we'll just have to go back to playing Mass Effect. Or Assassin's Creed. Or The Orange Box. Or Call of Duty 4. Or Rock Band. Or Halo 3. You know, come to think of it, we suppose we can wait a little longer for UTIII.

I don't really think it's a big deal and in a lot of ways it makes sense for Epic. Beyond simply the open nature of the DLC that the PS3 can provide... there's also the major fact that the competition on the PS3 compared to the 360 in the FPS genre is almost comparatively nonexistent.
I honestly wouldn't want to launch this game even within a few months of Halo 3 on the 360. They're probably making a smart move waiting until Winter or Spring, honestly. It's not like people won't still be interested by then.

Oh well. I've voiced my disappointment over this. I was immediately called a fanboy, and attacked... I thought it was ok to be a fanboy on this site!
Anyway, I'll play all the other games I have yet to fully experience. Not enough time for this one just yet.

Unfortunately some self respecting fans have some really crappy PC's that can hardly run UT3 :( Then again anybody crazy enough to play the Console Version is probably a hard/corepro so they'll own everybody else (by using aimbots and hax :)

i'd just like to defend your comment and say that the requirements to run unreal 3 and have it looking good are really quite low. i bought a new PC for Under $700 and with an Geforce 8600 card and it runs just fine.
sure i won't be running crysis but hey, with the PC unreal editor I can create my own GAMES not just levels for Unreal.
with that said, Unreal 3 ain't all that. if you played any Unreal its just the same.

I own both a PS3 & X360 as well. The only thing PS3 only users are "missing" are Mass Effect & Halo 3. The Orange Box is also out this week for PS3. And if you haven't finished that -have- been released, ie. Assassin's Creed etc. then you're probably a casual gamer anyway, and aren't freaking out over the release of UT3.
As for the "true UTer's only playing on PC", I don't agree at all. I have a FragFX & anyone with a mouse / kb are welcome to use it on the PS3 version as well. I'll stick with what I got, pick up the game for $60, use my FragFX and have fun with it.
I'm more of a UT / Quake player anyway, and I'm betting a lot of people who are into the Halo series started with UT / Quake as well. If you own a PS3, have a FragFX / BT mouse / kb why not get it? It seems foolish to spend $2000 + on a newer PC to run UT3 in all its glory, when PS3 users (and X360 users in the near future) will have the option on having fun with it on their nice big HDTV's for a fraction of the cost coupled with a great library of games (yes PS3 included). And if the multiplayer is anything like the older UT's then IMO it'll be as good or better than any of the other FPS's out there.
It's an acquired taste anyway. CoD4 is the new Counter Strike (if you're a console gamer, otherwise I'm sure lots of ppl still rock out on CS). TF2 is well, TF, but part 2. Halo has always felt like a slowed down version of UT, and UT3 well... I loved Q2/Q3/UT, so I'm hoping UT is like the past few have been as I'm big into the "twitch" gaming.

I recently bought a $700 computer with an 8600 Geforce card. i mainly use it for work but i went and bought Unreal 3 (for the Unreal editor, which doesnt' come with the console versions). And whaddya know? it ran it silky smooth with maxed out settings.
Unreal 3 feels exactly like previous unreals. Halo has a slow pace to highten tension. Unreal is fast and every weapon is deadly. It's fun for a bit, but i never really felt there is any balance or strategy like Halo or COD4. Especially compared to TF 2.
I do have to say Warhawk is my choice for the PS3 multiplayer title. And as far as playing with a keyboard? I never like the idea of paying extra to play a game. i just stick with what i got.
btw, the PS3 controller is not as built for a FPS as a 360 is.

All the games listed have ps3 counterparts except Mass effect and Halo 3. But PS3 also has 2 exclusives to neutralize that. So doesn't that just make Ps3 and xbox even? O_o
