It's official fellow European and Canadian compadres, you'll be getting the Xbox Live Video Marketplace next Tuesday. W00t, w00t! This morning Microsoft stepped up to the plate and officially announced that the Video Marketplace will launch in Canada, Ireland, France, Germany and the UK on December 11th. At launch, the service will not include any television content (though, we expect it to trickle in), but it will feature 25+ movies for rent including
300,
The Matrix Trilogy and
Zodiac. The content's pricing structure isn't all that bad, costing 250 points for SD rentals and 380 points for HD.
And who would have thought that Microsoft would make good on their promise to launch the Video Marketplace in Europe and Canada by
Fall 2007? They were cutting it a bit close and probably just wanted to keep us all in suspense. That's it, those silly Microsoft peeps ... always wanting to heighten the suspense.

At last!!
Tried sending this in 3 times, but kept getting a delivery failed message back.
But who cares! I'm getting downloadable HD movies next week!!
Finally a reason to trade-in for an Elite with it's big ol' hard drive now :o)

booya baby.
250 MSP = $4.00 CAD
380 MSP = $6.08 CAD
I'll definitely give this a try when it launches...plus I have over 10GBs of space on my HDD so that won't be a problem. :D I'll probably have a movie night sometime during the Xmas break with my gf and my family...and then they can see the truely awesome power of the 360. :D lol
I wonder if we'll get free downloads?

I haven't rented movies for a while lol, but isn't it something like 2 bucks per day or even less? Not 6 for sure.

@ Rogers it's about 5-6 for a dvd...I think more for a high def medium like HD DVD or BluRay although I'm not sure...lol

I'm impressed! Not only did they launch the service when they said they would back at E3, but the prices aren't as bad as I thought they would be..

I've been mentally preparing myself for the anticipated dodgy pricing but then they go and do this!
Works out less than Blockbuster.
SD = 250MSP = £2.13
HD = 380MSP = £3.23
Not only is this sensible pricing, but *shock horror* it's good value too! From Microsoft!! I know!!!

the prices are universal, which is the point of the MS points. all prices are the same in all regions, but the cost per point is relative to your currency. works out nicely for things like this so we can all discuss in a "currency" we know. good work ms, bring out the xbl marketplace everywhere.

Thank freaking god. Now I just gotta get an ethernet connection running into my den (I've been swapping my 360 between the den and computer room for Live access).
Hopefully MS will start working on licensing HDTV shows for Canada once they get the XBVM up and running.
