Second wave of Rock Band DLC features David Bowie

Tiz' the second week of Rock Band availability which means that it's also the second week of Rock Band downloadable content hitting the Marketplace. And this week David Bowie is the headlining DLC star with three of his songs available for purchase in two different ways. You can download the David Bowie Pack which includes "Moonage Daydream", "Queen Bitch" and "Heroes" bundled together for 440 Microsoft points or purchase each song individually for 160. Though, we are semi-confused to why exactly "Moonage Dream" is the only master recording while the other two songs are covers. We guess Mr. Bowie has a tight leash on his music and believes in the 33% rule which only allows 33% of his digitally distributed music to be original. Yeah, it's possible.

Today's Rock Band DLC
David Bowie Pack - 440
"Moonage Daydream" by David Bowie
"Queen Bitch" as made famous by David Bowie*
"Heroes" as made famous by David Bowie*

Individual Tracks - 160
"Moonage Daydream" by David Bowie
"Queen Bitch" as made famous by David Bowie*
"Heroes" as made famous by David Bowie*

I agree music is subjective. But music tastes are also trained. Pop music sources such as the radio and mtv ram the same songs over and over down listeners throats. People only know what they've heard and what they're hearing, for the most part, in the last 10 years is terrible. Rock is being killed by the big corporations that market bubblegum trash.

Venture out, there's more than mtv & Good Charlotte.

I'm 24, the youngest of 5, and my entire family are musicians (myself included). I've been fortunate enough to say music plays a very important part of my life.

I've been subjected to everything... Miles Davis, Muddy Waters, BB King, Django Reinhardt, SRV, Metallica, Pantera, Suicidal Tendencies, Soundgarden, Alice Cooper, Bowie, The Beatles, Debbi Gibson, Janet Jackson, 2 Live Crew, Tupac, Ice (Cube or T), (insert another random band/musician here here). I've gained a greater appreciation for music as an expressive artform, whether I particuliarly cared for that band or musician or not.

I just don't like the example of Good Charlotte. It's just such a basic stereotype of the younger generation... not all young people are mindless, corporate drones. And since when does MTV have any influence on music? I could've sworn they were a reality tv network now.

There are plenty of talented young bands out there. Unfortunately they don't sell as well because they don't fit that cookie-cutter mold you speak of.

Thankfully there's an easy to use media platform called the Internet (I believe Al Gore created it). Bands can now get the exposure they rightfully deserve and get their message across and in alot of cases, it's working and there's lots of start up companies willing to help them succeed in getting records and merch out there. People don't really look to MTV for music anymore.

I think RockBand's goal was to choose the worst, most unpopular song(s) from each band and put them in the game. The game is fun as hell, but honestly, Dead or Alive by Fall out Boy? Maybe the good songs are too expensive to get.....

...Worst, most unpopular songs...?

Dani California - RHCP
Are You Gonna Be My Girl - Jet
Ballroom Blitz - Sweet
Blackhole Sun - Soundgarden
Blitzkreig Bop - Ramones
Celebrity Skin - Hole
Don't Fear the Reaper - Blue Oyster Cult
I Think I'm Paranoid - Garbage
Sabotage - Beastie Boys
Say It Ain't So - Weezer
Should I Stay or Should I Go Now - The Clash
Tom Sawyer - Rush
Vasoline - Stone Temple Pilots
Wanted Dead or Alive - Bon Jovi
When You Were Young - The Killers
Roxanne - The Police
War Pigs - Black Sabbath
Touch of Grey - Grateful Dead
I Fought the Law - The Clash
Buddy Holly - Weezer

But yes... Somehow they're picking the "worst, and most unpopular" songs because you disagree with a boring band's boring song. It's not like Fall Out Boy has a lot of good ones to choose from. Dance Dance and what... Thanks for the Memories? If anything, Panic! should have been on Rock Band in place of Fall Out Boy

Passing on Bowie.

Still on the fence about Black Sabbath (next week?) b/c they are all covers.

Definitely getting Weezer "Buddy Holly" when it comes out. Where is "Hash Pipe"? ;)

I'm 15 and love Bowie's music. The problem is kids these days don't try new music and just buy what they catch off mtv. I enjoy a rather eclectic range of genres because I grew tired of the cookie cutter bands. Thank you, bittorent.
