After giving the numbers a quick look over, we found the biggest and most informative fact to be that worldwide Microsoft has sold 11.6 million Xbox 360 consoles, which is in line with what we've already expected. Other interesting tidbits found within' the press release include little nuggets like a new members joins Xbox Live once very eight seconds, that the 360's 6.3 game attach rate is the highest in the industry and that US Xbox 360 owners have purchased 24.3 million games which is more than the 19.3 million games both the PS3 and Wii have sold combined. Finally, Microsoft also included three "top ten" charts showcasing the top Xbox 360 and XBLA games played over Xbox Live as well as the top downloaded demos off the XBLM. And it's no surprise to see Halo 2 and Gears of War topping that list, but seeing Aegis Wing up there is a tad puzzling.
Check out more facts and figures after the jump as well as the top ten lists which are posted after the break. Hopefully, after giving everything a read over, your craving for Xbox 360 facts will be satisfied. Bon appetit!

So, when did Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter 3 come out? It sure is popular!
I am sure they meant Ghost Recon 3: Advanced Warfighter, but I had to comment!

Wasn't Bioshock factually the fastest XBLM download? I could've sworn I read that somewhere!? Oh well I don't care too much about that game anyways...

Actually, what's surprising is that BioShock's demo made the top ten list so quickly. I wonder if interest in demos is a short lived phenomena.

Its no surprize really that they've hit their expected numbers so early, or that Halo 2 is still number one. What surprizes me is how "hip" it became to have an xbox 360 and to top that even to play Halo 2 and 3.
I have one of the most beautiful women in my psych class, and just yesterday she was talking to me about getting Halo 3 at midnight and how she and her friens are having a Halo 3 party the next day. On top of that my Calc teacher is a casual gamer who just has a nintendo Wii, and last week he bought an Xbox 360 along with a fully preordered Halo 3. Its preplexing to say the least.

Does no one else find Oblivion being on the top 10 list for games played over xbox live a little strange?

@7 - Yeah, it's been funny to see this. It's almost become more of a pop culture thing than strictly a video game thing. I've overheard random people talking about it almost every time I've gone out the past couple of weeks and it's often not people I expect.
Also I'm not surprised about Aegis Wing. It's free.

This may sound counterintuitive, but having a high attach rate of games for your consoles is not necessarily a good thing. It can be an indicator that your console is only selling to the hardcore crowd, and for a console to succeed it needs to sell to the masses as well.

Aegis Wing was a free download for both Gold and Silver accounts and received a lot of press because of the game development history.
No real surprise that it is #1 on the Top 10 Xbox Live Arcade downloads list.
