Shipping this week: Skating in Oblivion edition

The gaming gods have seen fit once again to bless us with a week of multiple new games. This week plays host to six brand new games and, to top it all off, they're not all crap! Behold the plethora of titles with which we shall be showered this week:
  • NHL 2K8
  • Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Game of the Year Edition
  • NHL 08
  • SKATE
  • Fatal Inertia
  • Kengo: Legend of the 9
Just look at them, sitting there in all their majesty. You've got role playing, sports, futuristic racing, and sword fighting. If that ain't variety, what is? Seriously though, if you haven't bitten the bullet yet, Oblivion will probably give you the most bang for your gaming buck. Well, the longest bang anyway.

1. Not interested in any of these...a) Don't have enough money to get the games I want and b) Just not interested. :P lol

Posted at 9:57AM on Sep 10th 2007 by DjDATZ

2. Uninterested, epecially considering I am still working through Bioshock and enjoying the CoD4 Beta.

Posted at 10:02AM on Sep 10th 2007 by Asad

3. One of my friends stole my Oblivion disc... so I suppose that's some incentive to go out and get the GOTY disc.

Posted at 10:07AM on Sep 10th 2007 by Liqwid

4. Oblivion: GotY edition is this week?! CRAP. There goes all my free time.

Posted at 10:09AM on Sep 10th 2007 by chenry

5. SKATE ships in the US this week... And soon SKATE and Halo 3 will ship here in Europe. Way too bad my Xbox fucked itself up this weekend, and NO, not by rrod, but the drive just made a loud and nasty sound. Now it just won`t close when I try to insert it. Anyone know what error this is?

Posted at 10:10AM on Sep 10th 2007 by Erlend

6. Skate and Oblivion. My disc got scratched right after I downloaded the last bit of content for the game. Now I have a good 40-50 bucks of DLC just sitting around.

The Skate demo was amazing, so Ima be picking that up.

7. Just curious, does Oblivion GOTY allow you to get another set of Oblivion cheevos or does it use the same database entry?

And what's the price point?

8. w00t for the NHL...picking up 2k8, still don't like the EA series after the demo.

Posted at 10:22AM on Sep 10th 2007 by Bryan T

9. Long bang FTW!

Sorry, just had to say that. I want to rent skate, but I hate the way the EA website works for uploading your stuff so it will probably just piss me off.

10. so if Fatal Inertia supposed to be any good?

Posted at 11:53AM on Sep 10th 2007 by Mauricio

11. Brasso and an aftermarket cd buffer will bring any scratched cd/dvd back to like new condition in a couple of minutes.

Posted at 11:59AM on Sep 10th 2007 by GregA

12. It was suppose to be, but I'd imagine it was a little rushed considering all the down time they had caused by a gimped version of the Unreal Engine they had. If it is a budget title it might do well, but the demo left much to be desired. One cool thing about it was the harpoon like item you could get and latch onto other cars then fling them behind you. This game is better suited for an arcade machine in a pizzarea.

13. At #11

Or if you wanna get really oldschool you could use a baking soda toothpaste or car wax. Any "mild abrasive" will work on small scratches really.

14. Erlend, my Xbox will do the same thing occasionally, and all you have to do is Fonzie it, by which I mean when it closes, give it a sharp rap on the top(if it's horizontal that is) and it should stay closed.

Posted at 12:38PM on Sep 10th 2007 by Yuccadude

15. @14 , I don't think "fonzie-ing" your Xbox is the best bet, perhaps call MS tech support and get it replaced/repaired.

don't tell them that you've been fonzy'ing it though, as I'm sure this type of behaviour voids your warranty.

16. Sweet! I'll be picking up Skate and Oblivion GOTY ASAP.

17. W00T!
GOTY!
YAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY

18. already finished all the oblivion content. skate is a must buy for me.

Posted at 9:36PM on Sep 10th 2007 by skunkworks

19. Yeah, I will be picking up Skate. Can't believe the overall "meh" response from the community, skateboarding hasn't felt so fresh since the first few Tony Hawk games.
