This is what happens when you give a spoiled brat a caps lock key...chill the hell out...
@ Force
See you did wait for the newer better model...though you even weighed the fact there was a price difference also...! Seeing as you just got yours upgrading would seem rather pointless until you started getting the RRoD's but that should even be for a long time given your just a tad but lucky...!
For me though I think it's an amazing wait as this is a much needed upgrade...and for those without an xbox I still think it's worth the wait...
@ Sol
You seriously cannot convey a point using the caps lock key...I suggest trolling somewhere else...even better take all that frustration out online with the other kids...I'm sure they would more appreciate it than anyone else here would...

WHAT ARE WE YELLING ABOUT?!?!?!?!?!?
Seriously though, Sol you are right on one point, the REAl problem is the amount of heat these things push out and the fact that this heat doesnt really go anywhere, it lingers in your tiny framed console. However when you say youd have to put these things in a freezer to keep them cool you are very wrong. I urge people again and again to use an external fan pointing at the rear of your console to move all that hot air away. Should you have to? Of course not, MS should release a console that deals with air ventilation much better, but the fact is that they havnt. I have now done my own tests using a digital temp guage and the difference just having an external fan makes to the internal heat is phenomenal. If you dont beleieve me then please carry on as you are, for those that do believe me and act on it you just saved yourself some time/ effort and no doubt a few hundred notes in the long run!

@outinthedark: either you're a hypocrite or you really don't know what trolling means!
@MDJ: that is the ONLY point that could be made about why Xbox 360's 3RL, this heat is from a design flaw something that morons to this day continue to deny is an issue even though microsoft themselves have admitted that the flaw existed and continues to exist. it was comical when microsoft was in denial mode, but its now seriously just plain pathetic when they've freely admitted the problem. it makes me seriously think that if bill gates himself went to some fanboys house, punched him in the face and told him xbox 360's have heat issues and were 3RL'ing as a result, they'd still be coming on the forums whining about how that wasn't the real bill gates, or that he wasn't really talking about heating issues. i mean geez, gtfo some people are just plain retarded and without caps lock it simply DOES NOT GET THE MESSAGE ACROSS TO THEM. I am speaking here about Zeus the dumb and his alter egos.
I also dont know how you can come to your conclusion so easily, an internal temperature gauge does not measure the temperature accurately on all points on the motherboard. the biggest problem with what you said is that a japanese researcher has already exposed the reason why the GPU/CPU's are overheating, its because its located underneath the DVD drive squeezing circulation of air. No amount of external fan cooling is going to take care of that, you may be cooling part of the motherboard, but if the air is not circulating into the crucial GPU/CPU bgu.
My friend repairs these things for a living (im from a country where its not officially released, hence no warranty) and in order to bring the temperature down to acceptable tolerance levels an internal fan on the GPU/CPU heatsink forcing air to circulate into that area is the only solution apart from water cooling. Incidentally, the thermal paste applied to the chip to dissipate heat is not applied optimally by default and part of the process of fixing 3RL involved removing the paste and reapplying it to seal all air gaps for maximal heat dissipation.
So see Zeus, I know a hell of a lot more about computers than some blinded fanboy who enjoys baiting people into buying a defective product prematurely when they could easily wait a few months and get something 5x better from a heat standpoint which is what 65nm chips basically are.

I don't know how I haven't stayed on point in every single one of my posts...you continue to be an arrogant asshole...
Who said their wasn't a flaw in the case design and layout? You continue to bring it up when not a single person has tried to go up against your first statement...maybe instead of citing 'technician friends' as references and actually show people what your talking about...IE...

They can read the info that they obviously missed and it would help you to prove your point so to speak...
Caps lock is not your friend...in fact it's no one's friend...it's the hiv of the internet...

What the &*( is your problem outinthedark, you keep calling me an asshole when clearly your a worse one yourself. First of all, you don't even read posts properly, that article you posted IS THE SAME RESEARCH I WAS ALLUDING TO WHEN I MENTIONED THE JAPANESE RESEARCHER. Why do you think it mentions the DVD drive, the GPU/CPU heatsink, everything I mentioned in my post? I hope now you understand why I use caps lock, its because people like you don't know how to read!
Also, you must have missed the numerous posts by Zeus the dumb denying that there is a systemic design flaw related to heat with the Xbox 360's. This is in direct contradiction with microsoft said.
Not a single person mentioned it? HA, you drama queen. You obviously enjoy posting lies and bullshit just to make it appear your holier than thou. Bullshit! Learn to read or I'll continue to be an ass to you good day!

No shit there sherlock...telling me to read why don't you understand what I posted as well? I fully understand what you have posted and you obviously either don't understand what I have said...
I mentioned you should post where you have found your information rather than just blurting it out to have it rebuked...that's all I said...cite your resources...is that such a hard thing?
Zeus not once said anything against the console's design only about the processors not worth the wait...so re-read again there Sol...
Again 'continue to call you an asshole' would assume I have called you more than once an asshole...which until now that was an untrue statement...so my 'holier than thou' attitude is completely justified with an completely arrogant asshole like yourself...
If you haven't had your fill continue to post complete and utter garbage here...you have entirely gotten off topic and now you post just to try your hardest at insulting me...

i have a very essential question? for those who are considering the xbox 360 halo 3 console[since its limitted] if for any reason the same issue occurs over the consoles duration how would microsoft plan to compensate those who have trade in their original xbox 360 just to get the halo 3 console? because i mean i would not trade or sell mine to get the limmited addition just to know within a matter of months or weeks ill have to for some reason resort to the old console.

I'm going to have to interject here, and give Sol a little support....here are a couple quotes from Zeus' previous posts clearly suggesting that there is no flaw in the design, so you might want to chew on this for a while Outinthedark...
"Its not like random Xboxes are made to fuck up, and others don't. If you give it some breathing room, there won't be any issues with over heating."
"nearly all issues dealing with the 360 are heat related. That is the customers fault. Its not like the Xboxes choose what temperature they run at, and its not like they all run at drastically different temperatures when all put into the same situations. Its the consumer's faults if it over heats."
it is now a known fact that Microsoft tried to cut corners in designing this system in order to get it out to customers faster and try to get the only advantage it could over the other systems, I own a wii and PS3 and both are flawless in design, I have my PS3 in an enclosed space with poor ventilation and have left it running for months at a time with no ill effects. The fact of the matter is the customer is not supposed to have to worry about the system overheating if it is left on too long, technology is advanced enough these days that a console should be able to handle the heat load it outputs, as is the case with the wii and PS3, I will get a 360 once they solve the heat problem, but this just shows the inexperience of Microsoft in designing gaming consoles....should have stuck with Windows, Bill

The again, I'm still waiting on Atari to fix the 5200 Joysticks before I jump on that train.
