I don't think the 65 chip is that crucial. I've had my elite for 2 months now and its still doing perfectly fine.
And its well known that this "Falcon" crap won't improve the graphics or the gameplay of the system. So why should I have denied myself all the great games coming out this fall and from the last year.
In short if you're waiting for Falcon you're gprobably going to be waiting for a long time. And in the end you'll be disappointed when theres hardly any difference and ultimately you'll freak out even more once your 360 RRoD.
I hope it doesn't and chances are it won't. But if it does don't whine and bitch.

It's sad that heat, noise and failure is holding back sales.
MS didn't deliver quality this time.. thats just sad.
oh heck, I love em' anyway.

Whats truly funny is that my Wii makes a shitload more noise than my Elite...
Frankly I love my Wii but I HATE the ridiculous clicking noises that it constantly spits out.

Hmm, this is REALLY bad news.
The major reworking of motherboard design that a 65nm CPU would require. (component pinout will be radically different, as the wafer is smaller, and hence the packaging will also be).
To produce a new motherboard design is a VERY costly operation.
What this means, this is a interim SKU.
Knowing how much retooling costs are involved, Microsoft will not be doing a small batch of these, and then sending out Falcons slightly later.
You can expect to see these units for another 6 months, and Falcons early next year at the soonest.

No reasons to be cracking 360s open though. The boxes themselves say they're are't.
On the right side of every 360 box there's a label. As long as it says ZEPHYR on it, that means it's using the older chip.
So when it says something different, the chip's been changed.

I dont blame users for their 360 failures but it amazes me that they can complain after going to no effort to increase the life of their console. The biggest problem is air flow, so put a damn fan on it, I mean even if you stick it next to your PC the external PC fans will filter away A LOT of hot air. The difference this makes alone is phenomenal (there are tests out there to be found if you dont believe me). Whilst we would love a 100% reliable console we know we dont have it, so just puyt a bit of effort in and you may never have to worry again!

Your xbox is only 2 months old...you have no room to talk about this at all...
No duh the 65 mm processors have nothing to do with making the graphics better...this much needed upgrade along with the recently released new heat sink keep the console's heat down...
I have had my xbox from launch never a problem save for it freezing up on me once in a while...I just recently sent it in for repair out of the blue I got the RRoD which is mainly caused by overheating [in fact I don't think there is another reason]. I keep very good care of my electronics and this came out of nowhere as someone else has noted even the most cautious people are surprised by getting the RRoD.
Most of the people willing to wait for the new console are xbox owners already looking to upgrade [like myself]...and those that are waiting and don't own one already have every reason to wait...maybe everyone doesn't have such an expendable budget as yourself but I would wait a few months if something better is coming out around the corner...?
Is that not a fair assumption? Who would want to buy last years model when this years model is the same price and has an obvious advantage...? Why did you not buy the xbox when it came out? [I only know what you own by what you previously said of buying an elite]

For those of you waiting, STOP WASTING YOUR TIME! Just fucking buy one now. Its almost guaranteed that you WON'T have any over heating problems, especially with that new heat sink. I don't have that new fangled heat sink in mine, and I've had it since launch. I even left it on for 2 weeks on accident (on pause of course) when I went to Florida. When I came back, I'm like, "Oh shit, is it fried?" Nope. Just started playing where I left off. Its not going to over heat especially when I had mine in a confined space with nearly no breathing room, and it didn't.
There is no reason whatsoever to wait.

Maybe Force Unleashed doesn't, but I do. I have a mid-night launch console and it was manufactured on the 12th of October, 2005.
Its not like random Xboxes are made to fuck up, and others don't. If you give it some breathing room, there won't be any issues with over heating.

Right now I do. I had the wireless one that came with my system (I got the premium package), but I accidentally stepped on it, and it broke.
Why, do you think I bought the Core, or something?

No the only reason why the xbox would stay on is if you had a wired controller is all hah...! I've left mine on for like 16+ hours but not two weeks hehe...
I still stand by my comment that if a newer better model is right around the corner...I would wait...if I was deciding to pick up an xbox now I would do my research and find out about these new consoles and personally I would hold out...plus 2 free games now with the newer systems...! Don't know if those bundles are out but that would be another reason to wait a few...$120 bonus come on you know you would wait for that too...[just an example of waiting for features]

Actually YES IT IS. It's called manufacturing standard of error. In any and all processes there is some variance not only within the process itself, but also in quality control. When the variance is large enough, then you will have some units done perfectly, and others very poorly. By Microsoft's own admission though they have a DESIGN problem, so not only are some Xbox's made to fuck up, they are all leaving the factory with an end date far shorter than its 5 year lifecycle. It has been speculated that ALL xbox 360's will RROD before this console generation ends. Nobody has had a 360 for more than 2 years and already the failure rates are beginning to solidify at around the 30-40% mark.
I never believed it myself until my own unit RROD'd. I believe the only cure to the blind fanboism and holier-than-thou fucktards around here is for their own unit to crap out at the worst possible moment (such as when you just got Halo 3, or Bioshock) and I certainly pray that this would happen to a few of the jerktards around here! Pray to GOD mother*(&ers!

Keep praying Sol. I'm pretty sure that mine won't fuck up.
And the reason I didn't buy a 360 is because I usually only buy one console per generation and its always been Nintendo. However after researching both the ps3 and the 360 I decided that the 360 has a whole lot of awesome games that I want to play. In addition the great graphics didn't hurt either. And the ps3 is a ripoff in my opinion so I decided to get a 360. And thankfully I heard about the Elite and I just waiting a couple of weeks until it was released.
So theres my story. As for RRoD I think in some cases it is peoples fault. And in others its the companys fault.
But I don't think this Falcon crap is worth the wait.

Forceunleashed you can keep being pretty sure that it won't RROD, it certainly isn't going to make the crappy design inside your 360 suddenly become first-class. It will RROD eventually, it's only a matter of time.
Why the &*( are you suddenly talking about great games and shit, wow damn you can't even stay on topic for christ's sake. We're talking about No Falcon in HDMI premiums and why that's A BAD THING or are you retarded or something.
I have a PS3, a Wii and a 360 (under repair) and I really couldn't care less which console has the most great games, since I'm filthy rich and I have all of them. This does not mean I tolerate bad quality, and the 360 most certainly is a poorly designed system. OFF TOPIC AND INCIDENTALLY, I do agree the 360 has the best games which is why I said I hope yours dies when you're in the first level of Bioshock so you can shut the hell up and admit being a stupid retard.

Yup, because there are two different assembly lines. Ones that build Xboxes that live, and ones that shortly die.
What are you Sol, retarded? Some of them may fail due to technical problems, but nearly all issues dealing with the 360 are heat related. That is the customers fault. Its not like the Xboxes choose what temperature they run at, and its not like they all run at drastically different temperatures when all put into the same situations. Its the consumer's faults if it over heats. Some people say that its really poorly designed for ventilation... Well, heres the thing... Xbox is using heat pipes, the secret to keeping high end graphics cards cool... And those heat pipes have heat sinks. Over those heat sinks is a shroud with fans that suck hot air out, and suck cool air in through all the other vents- maybe you don't realize this, but it is pretty damn efficient considering how small the heat sinks are- hence the reason they are adding another one in there.
"But I don't understand how that lone heatsink can do much"
Heat pipes, my friend. That brass tubing is a heat pip, and it takes all the heat and distributes it evenly through out it's length. That means that heat sink is doing quite a bit more than you think. That alone pretty much eliminates the over heating bit in most cases.
If you are going to buy an Xbox, you have no reason to wait for the Falcon chipsets. All you need is that extra heatsink. The Falcon chips are not going to cause any performance differences.

Sol, you're obviously an ignorant douchebag that knows nothing about computers, chipsets, heat elimination or cooling in computer systems.
The heat sink is all you need. If you take care of your console it will take care of you, so to speak. No RROD will occur if you keep it in a well ventilated area.

Zeus you little fanboi idiot, let me explain something to you.. NEARLY ALL technical problems that occur with electronics ARE HEAT RELATED you imbecile. That is why manufacturers when designing such machines TAKE HEAT INTO CONSIDERATION to ensure their products do not die premature deaths in much the same way Xbox 360's do.
Since when have I ever said there are two assembly lines.. hi gtfo dumb ass, it's a DESIGN FAULT which microsoft in numerous interviews HAVE ADMITTED TO themselves. Their console is not handling heat properly, you would have to put it in a refrigerator while playing to completely circumvent RROD. GET THIS IN YOUR TINY BRAIN ITS A DESIGN FAULT DESIGN FAULT DESIGN FAULT.
And just to rub it in, since you're so dumb, there is more than one assembly line manufacturing xbox360's in fact there are multiple factories. Got that? But here's the rub, since your my little &*(, it doesn't matter because its a DESIGN FAULT, it could be manufactured in the moon it would still be a ticking time bomb because its design is flawed.
LOL at your heatsink comment, you can make the heatsink as big as you want it will not change the fact that a 65nm chip will run much cooler especially since those chips will ALSO HAVE THE SAME DAMNED HEATSINK.
By the way, that heatsink is not doing as much good as you think as Elites are still RROD'ing left and right.
I know this site is called Xbox360fanboy, but I think you've gone far beyond even that monicker into the world of retards detached from reality, you should be called Xbox360retard, or MS_Mascot.
