We've already
talked about it today, but now we have some official news about the
Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare multiplayer beta via the official website. CharlieOscarDelta.com has just been updated with a truckload of information about the beta, confirming the idea that the beta will start in the US and roll out to other countries soon after as well as other game specifics including gametypes, weapons, classes, controls, perk and other FAQ goodness. The update also confirms that the
COD4:MW MP BETA (yes, that is how they abbreviate it) will feature the three maps Overgrown, Vacant, and Crash. So, as you can tell, there's a bunch of information to take in and still no firm release date.
But we're sure you're wondering how exactly you can enter the
COD4:MW MP BETA fun and to be honest it's quite easy and quite random. The download codes will be available on a first come first serve basis to those who answer three trivia questions correctly. But you'll have to keep an eye on the beta page, because the questions and entry into the beta are set at a "coming soon!" status and could open up at any moment in the near future. Head on over to CharlieOscarDelta.com fanboys, soak it all in and prepare for some beta fun!

What kind of questions do you think they'll be?
Who wants to bet that they'll website will crash once the beta officially opens? Not worth my time at all. To be honest, I'll think I'll wait until it's out in stores.

Wow, quite possibly the gayest beta known to mankind, why not make people fly around the world and whoever wins the race gets the beta, that would be more fair.

You guys make it sound like we have to find the last Shankara stones here or something. (Kali-Ma, KALI-MAAAA!)
It's three trivia questions! I'll try to answer them, and if not, I can wait for October.
I bet one will be "What is the air-speed velocity of a laden Albatross?"

Never went very far in COD2 or 3 (though I have both) so I'll just wait a while before bothering with COD4. Definitely will rent it first

Highly anticipating the CoD 4 final retail build on October 30th right up there with Halo 3 for me!!
Not completely sold yet on Bioshock; the levels and art design am pretty, but these enemies haven't exactly gotten me twitterpated. I need to play a Bioshock demo.

I cant believe you idiots who are calling this gay. Would you rather have to go out and spend $60 on a game you may or may not even like just to get a shot at the beta!? I like the idea that we simply have to answer some questions. It costs me nothing. I paid $60 for crackdown just to try halo 3 a little early, I did semi-enjoy crackdown, but I promise you that I had no interested in purchasing the game until halo 3 beta was announced to be in it. They have a lot of beta codes to give out, so your chances are probably pretty high that you will get in.

Thought I would also mention that the pre-alpha footage of this game has blown me away compared to the beta version of halo 3's multiplayer. I am sure the single player will look good, but comparing the single player footage from this game compared to halo 3 single player footage this wins hands down, I think anyone will agree.
I know I am WAY off topic here, just was comparing the only two games that have/will have a beta so far on the system. I will definatley be purchasing h3 and cod4, they will both be fantastic, I just thought bungie could have put a little more effort into what catches most gamers attention (graphics) I am sure the gameplay will be great on both games.

First, those are "pre-beta" videos of COD4, not pre-alpha. Second, you seem to be basing a lot of faith on this game just based on "pre-beta" visuals, comparing it to Halo 3 visuals as if a game's graphics are the only thing that matters. Most naive/immature gamers get caught by the graphics AT FIRST, then (like Gears of War) the game gets put on the shelf while games like Halo 3 will shine on for years to come because of extraordinary customization and gameplay. Forgive Bungie for putting "a little more effort" into things that matter to the lifespan of a game, like 4 person online coop, a great storyline, epic battles, insane scale in maps, immense customization in multiplayer matches, and perfected gameplay.
Just for the record, I also think Halo 3 looks beautiful and really don't see how people can complain about the graphics.

**No, I am referring to the first trailer, as well as the first bog rescue gameplay. And those were PRE-ALPHA.

**Assuming this is aimed at me as well. If you actually read my statement, I very specifically said that I am SURE both games will have great gameplay. Of course MOST gamers are NORMAL people and look at graphics first. Thats human nature to be attracted to something visually before knowing anything about it.
Halo 3 will shine on for years to come because of extraordinary customization and gameplay
**Again, you are bringing up points for no reason. Both of these games will have extraordinary customization and gameplay. I only pointed out the graphics. Halo 3 looks like HD halo 2 sometimes. This isn't just me saying this, there are many respected sites that will agree. Yes, the graphics are better than halo 2 of course, but they could probably use some more work.
Halo 2, and Halo were great games, but I just feel that people are looking for new experiences this generation. We want to see innovation and creativity, Halo 3 (just based on the beta) to me seems like more of the same. Where as COD might not be extremely innovative itself in the single player aspect, I think they are taking it to the next level in multiplayer GAMEPLAY wise as well as graphics.
I would be willing to bet simply based on the reaction of almost every editor at E3 that COD4 has what it takes to beat halo 3 for the game of the year. I AM NOT HALO bashing, I enjoy the game, but I think its time to retire that game OR come up with something new and innovative. I will buy it for the single player experience, like you said it has a great story. But the multiplayer is just more bunny hopping with new weapons, vehicles and maps. It has just gotten old for me. This is one mans opinion.

Maybe someday you can explain to me how Halo 3 WON'T be innovative and how COD4 WILL be. That is such a backward statement it is laughable. How is Halo 3 not innovative, let's start with that question. Once that is answered, then move on to how you know so much about the gameplay of COD4 despite not playing it and how COD4 is somehow innovative. By innovative do you mean it looks pretty right now? If so, then I agree it looks like a pretty decent game graphics-wise, though obviously still rough around the edges. Unless they released some ALPHA that I don't know about I'm not sure how you can already be in love with COD4 gameplay and call it innovative.

Wasn't Halo the first game to use the regenerating Health/Shield. If I am wrong correct me, but I am sure I heard they did it first.
This is now a staple of FPS games, so if they did it first then they are certainly innovative over at Bungie. I mean CoD didn't use it, but CoD2 which is after Halo did, but CoD was 2001, before Halo, or at the same time as it. Implies to me they borrowed the idea.
