Call of Duty 4 beta to be exclusive to the US

In a right jab to the collective kidneys of Europe and Canada, Infinity Ward and Activision have confirmed that the Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare online mulitplayer beta will only be available to US residents. This morning, CVG chatted with publisher Activision when they confirmed the news, but wouldn't elaborate to why the beta was restricted to US Xbox Live members. Though, CVG does mention that they do expect Activision to make an official announcement about the CoD 4 beta sometime today.

If this is true, which we expect it to be, then this will make a bunch of fanboys go mad with rage, because they're being deprived of their CoD 4 beta fun. We're offering this posts' comments to our fellow European and Canadian readers, so they can vent and let out their frustration about this very sad news. We know guys, this really sucks hardcore.

22. Well it might be that they want to limit it to one country so they can narrow down the variables when it comes to the network issues. If the beta is more focused on learning how well the game runs online, then limiting it to one market might help them recognize issues.
IDK, sorry guys but that might be the case.

No point buying it used. Play.com, HMV, or even amazon.co.uk, always sell the game cheaper than buying it used when it first comes out.

Blockbuster and Game(Now owners of all Gamestations) are really expensive to buy used.
Plus I want a shiny one.

29. Yay Canada gets shafted!!! We live right beside you but we feel more welcome to Europe for shit soaked balls sake! You know Canada gets shafted for the stupidest things too? I can't rent videos?! I'd understand why they don't give it to the U.K (They should!) But we are the same fucking continent. We have a good fans base! Oh and if any American tells me to shutup stop crying... the only thing they didn't get was the damned vampire rain demo which sucks! They saved you guys from a horrible game.

32. If they try the whole "includes beta" with some game im going to add them to my never buy from list.
Why have they started calling these DEMOS, beta recently? Do they just want to make it look like they are giving us something extra, when infact they are taking alot away (i.e. adding time limits etc)

37. Yes they have the right to do what they want and yes it's just the beta, but everyone knows news of this sort is built to gather outcries. I have fond memories of the BF2 Modern Combat demo back on the original xbox and if I hadn't been allowed to play that because I'm in Canada, I would have been pissed too. Win some, lose some.

39. What a surprise. In all honesty though I couldn't care about this sh*t heap of a game, especially now. I just want halo 3 =P....I wouldnt be surprised if MS announce that as US only too! I wonder if they still think the world is flat on that if you go out of the US you fall off the world?...

40. Activision thanks for excluding us Europeans; to reciprocate I have no problem hanging on until a couple of months and buying a 2nd hand copy of the game for 2/3rds of the retail price (besides its not like there isn't anything to place this Xmas).
