We have good news for everyone who already purchased
The Darkness (or will be after trying the
demo) and have tried to enjoy the game's laggy online multiplayer. Over on
The Darkness' official MySpace page, Lord Sonatine has confirmed that they'll be releasing a multiplayer patch sometime in August to fix the lag issues that so many players are experiencing. Lord Sonatine explains that the problem stems from poor host upstream speeds which weren't caught while developing the game due to the studio's uber fast internet hookup. For now, they recommend hosting a match with less players which will help alleviate the bandwidth strain on the host.
On behalf of the hundreds of people we've heard complain about laggy
The Darkness multiplayer we send a well deserved thank you to Starbreeze Studios for the patch. That is, if the patch will actually fix the lag problem. Stay tuned ...

Wow, Why don't you try a game before criticizing it.
The online would be great if it wasn't for this damn lag.

No it is CRAP! It is a good single player game, but it seems like the multiplayer was just an "afterthought" to the publishers....GoW still rocks.

Agreed, the mp can be fun when there is a lower player count and the lag isn't there. I'm not 100% sold on the poor upstream of the host being the cause because I'm running off of FIOs and have 15 mb down and 2 mb up. I consider that to be pretty good (well it is better than a T1) and have still had the issue.
Yes, I'm running wired and not wireless

Have you even played "The Darkness" on the 360? With blanket statements like this, you're credibility is 'crap'.

Thank God they're are patching this. Game's great but it's only setback was the terrible lag in multiplayer.

how can you even compare this to GoW? It's a completely different game play.
@burgerbat
Seriously, have you played it yet because the story line is awesome. you get great graphics, darkness powers are awesome, great storyline, what more do you want in a game?

I'm pretty sure I remember burgerbat saying something similar in another thread. He also mentioned something about huge developers and such -- you know, Starbreeze Studios, over there in Sweden, holding their monopoly over the videogame business.
Ignore him. Even if he's serious, which I hope he's not, he's still just a joke.

whats with developers nowadays. What kind of an excuse is that? It seems 1 in 3 games are shipping with laggy multiplayer and patched later on. This is so annoying. Thats one of the most important aspects of any game. Still why I loved PDZ on launch. 32 player game and it handeld lag in such a way that a person like me with an 800kbps upload, could host a 32 player match lag free. I have yet to see any other game pull off a feat even close to this. I think developers need to go ask rare for some netcode.

We should seriously have some site (a part of some site) that keeps track of how many 360 games have to be patched, it's getting annoying as hell...

thats why i miss some aspects of the 1st xbox, the developers had2 get everything right the FIRST time around, not release an unfinished game then finish it later

Didn't they say the Multiplayer was kinda just... tacked on because they needed longevity?
Or was that another game... I could've sworn that the Producer said the game wasn't a Multiplayer game, but they put some in anyways.
huh.
