Ahem, well, we hope so, because this week it's your only choice for new retail games on the Xbox 360. Whatever your tastes in sports games, though, this marks a special week for football games. Yes, this week we finally see the release of 2K's return to football, All Pro Football 2K8. It's time to see if a non-licensed football game can make a dent in a world where Madden is the only NFL game in town. Will players gravitate towards (historically) more refined gameplay in lieu of licensed teams? We'll just have to wait and see. It will be interesting to see how APF2K8 fares against this week's other release, NCAA Football 08.

I am really interested to see if this game is any good. I tired of football games pretty quick because nowadays they (meaning the EA ones) all feel the same as the year before. Maybe thats a good thing to some, but to me, its hard to keep at it (also doesn't help that I'm addicted to achievements either...).
They would really get my money if they did what they did when ESPN NFL 2K5 came out and made the price cheaper than Madden. Couldn't beat that $19.99 price!

It really amazes me that they released a game as awsome as 2k5 for 20 bux. i still play that game. now-a-days even the cheap games are 40 bux. and they are usually crappy or spongebob or both.

Vote with your wallet bitches. A vote for 2K8 is not only a vote for a great game, but a vote against rehashed mediocrity.

I'll rent before I buy, but I'll probably end up paying 70 dollars for the rental fee and then for the purchase.

It's not really clear what that means, but if it's supposed to say that Madden is historically more refined, that's just silly. Madden is, and always has been, the bare minimum necessary to sell new copies. The actual gameplay is fairly terrible.
If someone thinks that "in favor of" means "instead of", then it makes a little more sense as a question, and I can only hope the answer is yes. The 2k football games were, on the whole, a lot better than Madden. I know I'm heading out today to pick this up, and I expect to actually play it (unlike Madden 06 and 07, which sit on the shelf because they're boring as hell).

Football RULEZ on the Xbox 360!!!!!!!!
Xbox 360 is the ONLY PLACE gamers can play the THREE Football games at 60 Frames Per Second of High-Fidelity Speed and Visual Smoothness this year!!!!!!!!!!!!
As an Xbox 360 Fanboy, it is FUN TO SAY, to I will say it for EACH GAME!!!
NCAA College Football 2008 can ONLY be played at 60 Frames Per Second of High-Fidelity Speed and Visual Smoothness on the Xbox 360!
All-Pro Football 2K8 can ONLY be played at 60 Frames Per Second of High-Fidelity Speed and Visual Smoothness on the Xbox 360!
John Madden Football 2008 can ONLY be played at 60 Frames Per Second of High-Fidelity Speed and Visual Smoothness on the Xbox 360!
Bottom Line: Xbox 360 is the ONLY system that Football can be played at 60 Frames Per Second of High-Fidelity Speed and Visual Smoothness!!!

I bought this sucker over lunch and can't wait to get home and play it!
I was a Madden player for a long time... until I played NFL2K on my Dreamcast in 1999. I haven't been back to Madden since, not even during the Great 2K Drought.
Glad it's back!

Let me first say that I love 2K5. I will play it over Madden for years to come as it is still better than Madden 07, and will likely be better than Madden for a long while.
That said, I will not buy 2K8, and it has absolutely nothing to do with not having an official NFL license. IT HAS NO FRANCHISE MODE!!!!!
Franchise mode is the heart of any modern sports game, and with no franchise mode, I have zero interest in playing 2K8, Dan Marino or not.
Why they decided to not have a franchise mode, I'm not sure, but their logic can't have been that great. I play 2K5 with a fairly large group of guys. We base our rosters and acquisitions off each other. None of us will buy 2K8. We'd all rather play with a made up player that we draft than with All Pro historical players.
2K Sports has lost at least 10 sales because of their decision to not include a franchise mode. Here's to hoping that they will get their heads out of their ( | )es before next year's iteration, or they will lose even more sales.

@3 bishop
don't get me wrong, it's rendered really well.
but i haven't seen these type of sport game covers since the early 90's. i think the majority have real photos used now and it looks more professional.
this makes the game appear like an action movie. just look at John "Mad Max" Elway and that halo of light! lol
if that isn't funny to you then, well we just have different humor.

I'll probably be passing on this one. As much as I loved NFL2k5, I'm more of a current NFL fan instead of years past. Of course, with Madden being the crap-hole that it is, I'll just not be playing football this year.
