Carcassonne tiles onto Arcade

As we announced on Monday, today's Xbox Live Arcade offering is Carcassonne. For 800 Microsoft Points you can get your hands on some castle building action. It's got 5 player live multiplayer and 4 player local MP, Live Vision camera support, and a nice range of balanced Achievements. It hopefully will bring a similar crowd as Catan did, allowing for a more laid back and social experience, so long as the camera support isn't abused. Hopefully we'll catch you online soon.

I actually did a little jig when I read "local multiplayer". ROCK! I'm still sore that Catan doesn't offer the same, but I'm going to have to head out now and find a good deal on a second controller -- this may finally give me a chance to get my wife playing.

Anybody got a good lead on really cheap 360 controllers? Wireless preferred, but not required.

James, Stootsi (http://www.stootsi.com/) has the wireless controller for $34.99. Looks like that price will last until midnight eastern time.

I know James, I was pretty sore when Texas Hold'em didn't have four player local myself...

Kind of hard to play local multiplayer when you have cards to hide. Carcassonne is a little more open than that.

.... Unless you meant local LAN, which is a little different, but it seemed like it meant local same-console multiplayer.

You can do a local LAN. You just can't do local single Xbox 360.

I think Catan should have the option to do local multiplayer. The cards aren't like poker; a player with a good memory COULD know exactly who has what cards if they paid attention (since you see every card that goes into and out of a player's possession). In addition, you can tell exactly how many of each resource are in play...

Development cards could be handled by just telling the other person to look away when you buy one. A minor inconvenience, but I'd love to play Catan with my wife and a couple of CPU players. :(

That said, I'll probably try this game out too. Never heard of it before (never heard of Catan either), but people seem to be complimenting it.

This is a really fun game. Simple rules, simple game elements and a short play time. Also seems to be a lot of strategic depth. Like Catan, the demo instantly makes me want to drop the 800pts. Unlike Catan, I might actually spend the money this time :)

Did no one else find the demo was pretty cheap? I would've liked to be able to finish a basic game, but with the limit on the number of turns I guess that isn't possible (I'm new to the game so correct me if I'm wrong.)

Why not limit the demo to a basic game at a low AI setting, but at least allow players to complete a play through.
