Either we spoke too soon, or Microsoft's ninjas are pretty damned quick. X3F readers will recall that the USK (essentially Germany's version of the ESRB) rated Marathon: Durandal for the Xbox 360 last week. This led us to assume that our wild speculation from last November was true, and that Marathon was making its way to Xbox Live Arcade. Now, it looks like something is amiss. We checked the USK listing during our weekly Fancast recording session on Sunday, and lo and behold, the listing was gone (gasp!). No, really, check for yourself.
So, here's the question: was the USK hallucinating, or has Microsoft demanded that the USK lower the veil of secrecy on what should have been a top-secret project?

Can I make a request that we get rid of the damn 'Orange' advertisement of the summary page on these blogs, it keeps kicking me back up to the top of the page whilst I'm trying to read!

Get Firefox and Adblock.
I haven't seen an ad on X3F or Joystiq in AGES.

I don't understand the fuss about this one. An old game by an over-rated developer.

I think it's pretty obvious Microsoft asked them to keep it on the DL.
The only other plausible explanation is that they rated a game they thought was Marathon, but wasn't. I think that's much less likely.

I would venture to guess the latter.

Turning loop off in the Flash player didn't help either.

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
Hopefully they are changing the name or keeping a secret, or something. I was psyched to play this again using a controller. Mouse & keyboard is so lame.

There has been an active Marathon community for ages and it keeps getting better. The original games are constantly updated with new enhancements and there are loads of cool major conversion scenarios.
