Video: It's time for some PGR 4 snow

The last time we saw Project Gotham Racing 4 in action it was raining in St. Petersburg, but today we are treated to a new video; a little snow in Nurburgring. Bizarre Creations released the second weather video today making it quite obvious that the team really cares about dynamic weather and is doing a fine job with the whole concept. They also announced two more locations (Nurburgring, as seen in the video, and Quebec) which is four (Shanghai and St. Petersburg were previously announced) of the ten locations we'll be seeing in the game. The press release also confirmed six vehicles as well as stating that PGR 4 will be "speeding its way onto store shelves this fall" ... yes, this fall. Full press release after the break and be sure to race on over to IGN where they talk with Bizarre's community lead about the weather in PGR 4. Race along now ...

UPDATE: "PGR 4" Piles on the Snow, Unveils Nürburgring and Quebec tracks and Rolls Out the Goods from BMW, Lotus and Toyota

Greetings "Project Gotham Racing 4" Fans!

Since our last update, we wanted to check in and provide you with the latest details on all things "Project Gotham Racing® 4," which will be speeding its way onto store shelves this fall. But first, be sure to download the new gameplay video, "The Snow in Nürburgring," from:

In this video, we're excited to show you how snow will present new opportunities to show off unique and stylized maneuvers, while gaining admiration and recognition from the crowd. The dynamic weather system will bring Mother Nature right to your doorstep! Check out the video and see for yourself how cool drifting and powering through the big white flakes looks, but also how exciting and realistic the elements can feel while driving. We're not about adding things just for flair you know...

You'll also notice that the video takes place on the beautiful Nürburgring track. Additionally, we're excited to announce that you can tear through the streets of stunning Quebec. These two locations, along with Shanghai and St. Petersburg, are four of 10 locations that will be available in "PGR 4." We promise to disclose the rest of the cities soon so stay tuned. After all, there's a lot more road to hug out there...

"PGR 4" will also feature some of the world's most iconic cars, as new vehicles are lined up and ready to be driven, including the following:

· 1967 Toyota 2000GT
· 1978 Lamborghini Countach LP400
· 1998 Subaru Impreza 22B STi
· 2004 BMW M5
· 2007 RUF RGT
· 2007 Lotus GT3RR

Be on the lookout next month for additional updates as we roll out the game's impressive new features, locations and vehicle list.

Until next time, keep your car in fifth and two wheels on the pavement!
Your "Project Gotham Racing 4" Team

1. First rain, and then snow.... I predict that the next video will have.... SLEET!!

Seriously though, this game looks pretty awesome. I'm looking forward to it.

2. I'm interested in seeing/feeling how the weather affects the phsyics....If done right, it could be very cool

3. PGR3 missed the mark with horrendous gameplay experience. Let's hope PGR4 resembles more like PGR2...with simple, intuitive, and enjoyable gameplay online and offline.

4. I rented PGR3 when I first got our 360 and thought it sorta sucked. Then I got the Microsoft racing wheel and since it came with the wheel (and Forza 2 was months away) I played it again and enjoyed it 1000% more. No, it's not up to Forza 2's gameplay, but heck, for reworked launch title (adding FFB) I thought it was quite good. If PGR4 can combine some of Forza 2's driving dynamics with these gorgeous visuals, it's definitely going to be on my "must buy" list.

7. Too many games for Fall. I swear, after this year I won't have to buy another game until 2009. PGR3 was rushed for launch but was still a solid game. I hope they are not rushing things this time.

8. What's all this dissing PGR3?! Amazing game. This new vid shows they've raised the bar again... That "back seat" view is wicked - hopefully that's in-game.

As long as the weather conditions aren't "gimmicky", and are realistically simulated, I think it's an terrific addition to an already great racer...

PGR = amazing visuals
Forza 2 = amazing driving

we have the two best racers on any platform!

9. Where do I make suggestions to the developers? I love the weather effects, top notch, but I watched the raining video again, and they showed lots of crowd shots. One thing kept bugging me though. No UMBRELLAS!! You'd think if they go to all the new weather troubles, they'd also update the crowds to accomodate the new weather, by being dressed appropriately, like raincoats and umbrellas, coats and fur hats for snow, etc. I think this is really important, and shouldn't be overlooked, is there a suggestion box or an e-mail addy of a developer we can get this suggestion to?

10. Wow im in awwe after that. Am i the only one who cant wait to drive the Nur wile its snowing? dam yo ill jus have to do with the summer ver in forza 2 till then..

11. Do they actually race in real life when it snows like that?

I can't imagine it being much fun if the snow has a significant effect on vehicle handling at speed.

Posted at 7:51PM on Jun 15th 2007 by Stranger

12. Know what weather effects I want to see in PGR 4?

Trees that actually move in the wind. Dynamic clouds and weather based lighting effects like the sun poking through a mass of clouds as a storm subsides. While we're at it: toggle options for time of day in custom games.

Let's hope they can be bothered to make the backgrounds less stiff this time in general.

Posted at 7:51PM on Jun 15th 2007 by Stranger

13. @ stranger, in PGR 3 you could adjust what time of day you wanted to race fyi.

Posted at 8:25PM on Jun 15th 2007 by Jay

14. Looks nice, however, what is the point in the dynamic weather when it appears to have actually no effect on the driving in the game?
Looking at that vid, the way they are driving in that snow would be next to impossible. That was basically sleet.

U 4-got to mention Dirt.

15. Oh yea and Test Drive Unlimited=p

Posted at 6:16PM on Jun 16th 2007 by ccc

16. Great dynamic weather. Problem is no one would be driving like that in the snow. These games have always been arcade games but somewhat based on reality. No one would drive a Lamborghini in the snow. Even the rain is iffy. I could see the rain working if it came up in the middle of a race. I hope they at least make it affect the handling.

They should be working on making a good game unlike PGR3.
