New DIRT pre-order goodies revealed

Codemasters has announced that those who place pre-orders on Colin McRae: DIRT will get some exclusive in-game content. Pre-ordering players will receive a code to unlock 10 additional cars as well as access to exclusive videos featuring Travis Pastrana (whom we're guessing is famous). It's unknown if this code will unlock cars that can be obtained in other ways or if the content will really be exclusive to those with pre-orders. The 10 cars are:
  • Subaru Impreza WRX-RA STI version II
  • Toyota Celica GT-FOUR
  • Peugeot 205 T16
  • Lancia Delta S4
  • Icker Jimco buggy
  • McMillin Racing Car
  • Kamaz 4911
  • Freightliner Century Class S/T
  • Kenworth T2000
So, is that enough to make you get your pre-order on?

2. How many cars are there supposed to be in the game total?

Posted at 5:01PM on May 30th 2007 by Geoff Gibson

3. Nevermind...

A quick search revealed there are 40 cars to be released.

So under these conditions it seems VERY WORTH IT to pre-order the game as it effectively increases your potential cars by 20%.

4. Bloody US again? I've pre-ordered in the UK and got nothing!!

5. I tried the demo on the Xbox and after trying the 3 different tracks and cars, I was left with a strange feeling. I've tried the old Colin Mcrae games which were amzing and added so much to the genre, but this latest version failed to give me the same excitement.

the grafix are amazin, but everything tends to become too dark, the breaking of the car was nice but it's done before and now in this latest version I can't view the damage of the sides of the car, via the camera.

In the older version I could get the car to fall down the side of the road and get really damage, and try to find a way up again, but in this latest version, you can only get so short away from the road and flash back on the track. Why didn't they give us the oppertunity to choose by ourself to get back on track? and let us play with the arena.

I know I'm maybe whining, but I expected more from this demo too add more realism and fun, and I know the final game won't include them. So this game defentily won't be on my wishlist, I can settle with my current copies. But I wish you all luck in getting the new game and I hope you have more fun with it :)

6. Ok, so what I want to know, is how and when do we get this code? Is there some sort of pre-order package that is exclusive to customers who pre-order, and it has, like, a sheet with the code inside, or are we supposed to get it when we put the money down?

Damn, I don't want to get screwed by Blockbuster.

7. You SHOULD all know travis pastrana, he's not only a really good rally driver... he's also an x-games hero

Be amazed!

8. How can you not know who Travis Pastrana is!

Posted at 6:00PM on May 30th 2007 by captaingrapes

9. I think it is BS that they are making you pre-order to get those cars. They should be included in the game in the first place.

Posted at 6:09PM on May 30th 2007 by Sircolby45

10. So where do you have to preorder this to get the code? Gamestop? Amazon? I was going to get this game anyways, so I might as well put the preorder down and get the extra codes (gotta have the STI and the Lancia)

11. nevermind, read article:

Amazon.com, BestBuy.com, GameStop/EB and GameCrazy

12. These seem like pretty popular cars to leave out of the game I mean, the big names like the Impreza, GT4 and 205 are all pretty big in the rally world unless I'm mistaken, and besides I sorta have a soft spot for the Impreza

13. The demo blew me away, but sadly I'm saving my money for more important games in the fall and winter.

14. Kenworth T2000?

Isn't that a semi? How many types of cars are in this game?

Posted at 8:10PM on May 30th 2007 by Ryan

15. @14: Yes it is, the MAN TGA, Freightliner Century Class S/T are also trucks ;)

16. Europe gets nothing again.....:(

None from the retailers mentioned in the article is an EU based one.....

Posted at 6:59AM on May 31st 2007 by Stavros

17. Yes, it's disgraceful. Maybe us in Europe would actually buy the game if we knew we'd get 10 extra bloody cars!!! :(

Posted at 12:28PM on May 31st 2007 by Ciaran Gallagher

18. Who buys games anymore. Honestly you should just use gamefly if you ask me. Who really plays most of their games more than a few times. And if you don't have gamefly yet let me sign you up so i can get a free wii. HA HA

19. My friends and I were big fans of the online multiplayer on Rallysport Challenge II.

We were REALLY looking forward to Dirt and the online possibilities it would bring to the table. I then read an article on how incredibly LAME the multiplayer will be!

Basically, it's you alone on the track racing against other peoples time. Wow, thats fun! So it's just you and your buggy alone on a dirt track. No bumping, no crashing, no fun, no thanks!

Posted at 2:14PM on Jun 4th 2007 by Dave

20. My friend and I both pre-order Dirt and picked up our copies today. But the access code was never mentioned during the reservation of the game or when we purchased them. But a week prior to the games release we went to a local Gamestop to purchase something and happened to come across the Dirt Access Card which was in plain sight for the public to pick up. I asked the guy about it and he said we don't know why we got these so we are just giving them out. I was kinda ticked off but grabbed 2 cards one for my friend and one for me.

We picked up the game today and went to the directed website on the card www.dirtpreorder.com which then asks for the access number. Then they ask for your unique code which is under the options menu. After entering this information we received another code to enter under the Bonus Code menu.

Well this did not work and said that the code was unusable. So needless to say we were both pretty ticked off. Neither of your cards worked in conjunction with my friends game or my game. Damn you codemasters... My guess is that it was just a ploy to get the game but there real goal was to get you to call that number on the back of the manual and pay that ridiculous cost to get the codes. Oh well.
