Ever since the first Halo 3 ViDoc surfaced, fanboys everywhere have been complaining that Halo 3's graphics may not be up to snuff. Speaking to Next-Gen, Bungie's Frank O'Connor offers some hope for ailing fans. First, he does note that multiplayer will always be geared towards performance before graphical wizardry. After all, what's the point of beautiful multiplayer if the framerate is unplayable? Still, O'Connor says that there will be "a few nifty graphical improvements in multiplayer," though he notes that he expects the real graphical polish will best be displayed by the single-player campaign.
Are you at all bothered by Halo 3's graphics so far, or are you too busy enjoying yourself?

To be perfectly honest if the gameplay stays like this, I wouldn't care if the graphics didn't improve beyond the beta.
If the graphics get better without sacrificing gameplay then thats just gravy.

I don't want to get anyone angry... though I'm sure it'll happen.
I hope Halo ENDS here. I don't want Halo to become like Mario Party. After 3.. it should die. I find Halo multiplayer boring. I'm one of the FEW who are in it for the campaign.
I have the beta and yeah... I like the detachable turrets.. and the bubble sheild.. but after that... NOTTA'! Graphics compare to the PS2 and nothing to original in here.
Halo 2.3 releases on Sept. 25th.

If you ask me the game looks pretty impressive. Of course I'm playing on a 57 inch dlp. What I want to know is out of the people complaining; how many of those are playing on a non HD - set? I'd say quite a few.

I don't understand why most people complain about the Beta, while not looking as good as GEOW, still looks very much next gen. All they need to do is fix a few textures and add on some AA and the game will look very good. You can't add tons of atmosphere elements to a game like Halo because it takes away from the balance and gameplay.
@Christopher Mitrione, your comments about it looking PS2ish really shows how little you know about games. I respect your opinion but the gameplay is great, I suspect that you just were not good at the game.

@ 3.
You do realize its a trilogy, right?
Meaning... there was only gonna be 3 to begin with?
sure there will be spinoffs (Halo Wars), but this is the last official Halo game in the serious.
Chill down and relax.
I also agree with #5, your comments comparing Halo 3 to a PS2 game is rather baffling.

I think the beta looks beautiful already and would be satisfied if, graphically, it shipped as is. I figure it can only get better from here...

I don't mind. I'm too busy playing Custom matches with Rockets, Swords, Pistols, and Wraiths to care. I love the game.

I'm too busy enjoying custom games and no gravity to give two cents about the beta graphics that don't represent the game's final graphic quality.

WIDEGUY: Obviously my comment about the graphics resembling a "PS2" game was just an insult. As an Xbox360 game.. it is not up to par with the eye-candy visuals of GOW. But Halo also has a different art-style. It is still my personal opinion that the three Halo3 maps I've played... simply look BLAND.
Oh.. and you don't think I'm any good? Let's play a round or two!
---------
ProjectEkim360: It's good stuff man. Up here you can get an eighth for $30.
---------
dancingtosirens: Yeah, and there was only supposed to be ONE Jurassic Park. They're already starting to make the 4th. Success of a franchise will create broken promises.
---------
L: My LG doesn't lie. They're not too much different.

I'm playing on a pretty large HDTV (58"), and I agree that anyone saying the graphics are comparable to Halo 2 probably isn't playing in HD. It does look noticeably better in several aspects.
However, you can't tell me that the beta is more than an average-looking HD title for the 360 right now... and forget comparing it to something like Gears of War. Count me in the camp that hopes they improve things dramatically for the single-player experience.

GOW graffix compared to H3 is getting on my nerves...H3 rapes GOW in performance...it's why GOW chokes up playing Annex..8 people respawning....
H3 will be Game of the Year in 07

The Halo 3 beta has very impressive graphics, in my opinion.
For example, look at all of the ways the Halo 3 beta has impressive features such as lighting that reflect off of every surfice and reflect in every direction!
I believe Bungie is making the 100% correct decision to make it so the single-player Campaign mode is the part of the game that will have the best graphics!
When an online game is played with 16-people competing against each other, you can't afford to have any sort of lag, or else the game won't be fun. So, the graphics are always less impressive in the 16-player online mode. If that wasn't the case, then there would be lag in the online mode, and it wouldn't be fun to play. Halo 2 on the original Xbox made it so gameplay came before graphics, and that is why Halo 2 is holds the world record for most games played online.
The cool thing about the single-player Campaign mode for Halo 3 is that it can actually be played with up to four-players in an Online Co-Op mode!
It was super fun playing Gears of War in the single-player Campaign mode, but it was twice as much fun when you could play it with two players in the Online Co-Op version of the Campaign mode.
Just stop and think how super-fun Halo 3 will be when we are playing 4-player Online Co-Op with the Campaign mode! Halo 3 will be the FUNNEST game EVER!!!!!!!
The Halo 3 beta doesn't let us see what any of the new alien races will look like. And it doesn't let us see what all of the older aliens will look like with all of the new designs. When Halo 3 is finished we will finally get to see all of the improvements that have been made graphically!
I am having a LOT of fun playing the 16-player Halo 3 beta, and I think it has great graphics now. When the finished version of the game is released and it has even better graphics for the Online versus matches, and MUCH better graphics for the Campaign mode, it will be my favorite game EVER!
My friends and I actually have taken the day off from work already on September 25, 2007 so we can buy Halo 3 and play it ALL DAY LONG!!!

I mean really regardless of the graphics this game is going to sell millions of copies for Microsoft and Bungie and its guaranteed to sell MORE consoles for Microsoft this fall. The bottom line however is that while I'd like to know that the graphics are superb and close if not better than GoW I really won't mind since Halo is on a whole nother level of awesomeness. My only concern is how good I'll be at the Multiplayer. I know I'm not going to be the greatest but I don't want to buy the game only to be killed every second I'm on Live...lol. But hopefully the Single Player will be great.

I agree with the comments in the original post. Halo 3 is unforgiving, and in general hard. And, before the flaming begins, I had no problems with the 'difficulty' myself, however, having a friend try it out, is excruciatingly painful. Having a playing style so similar to Halo2's means new players are going up against practically years of practice from other players, and with what seems to be less health given this time around, they don't get a lot of time to practice.
I also agree on the point about how great the bubble shield and removable turrets are. I also love the mongoose. The new stuff is fantastic. I really do hope that there is a lot more new stuff coming along in the full version. I just wish they had taken some of the old stuff out. The beta simply has too many re-hashed ideas to keep me interested atm.
