3 sets of 3 songs from the original Guitar Hero have landed on Xbox Live Marketplace for GHII. Track Pack 1 has Ozzy's "Bark at the Moon", "Ace of Spades" by Motörhead, and The Exies' "Hey You". Pack numero dos is rockin' "Killer Queen" by Queen, The Donnas' "Take it Off", and "Frankenstein" by The Edward Winter Group. Finally, the third Pack gives you "Higher Ground" by Red Hot Chili Peppers, Incubus' "Stellar", and "Infected" by Bad Religion.
Note that all of these songs are covers and not master tracks, like they were before. Each pack weighs in a 500 MS points. That means, at this price point, to get all 47 of the original Guitar Hero tracks, it would cost you roughly 7,850 MS Points or $98.09 USD. So, will you be picking up any of these packs, if so, which one?

I won't be picking up any of the packs until i find songs I like. I want more Lamb of God (With a good cover, please. Laid to rest was horrible.), Killswitch Engage, Nothingface, All that remains, and other such new-metal artists.

Microsoft needs to realize that gamers are fickle people. As soon as they feel they're being taken advantage of they will turn on companies they've supported for years. Sony is feeling that wrath now. If Microsoft doesn't shape up, we'll take them down. We don't even have to do anything. Buy nothing and it'll hurt them.
These songs should be so cheap that people buy them on impulse. They should be so reasonable that everyone with GHII and a live account would be looked at strangely if they didn't buy them.
C'mon Microsoft, just make us happy. You can do that AND make money, yunno.

wow, I really wanted to buy Higher Ground, but for no way. I was expecting the reasonable price of 99 cents each, you know, what it would cost on somewhere like itunes- where you could put it on your ipod or burn it onto a cd or whatever. This price is simply ridiculous, the whole 9 songs for 500 MS points sound reasonable, but this? Do yourself a favor and send MS and RedOctane a message, DONT BUY THIS, as much as you may want to, don't. Just go play Freebird instead.
And I thought $90 just for this game was expensive.....

I was kind of hoping that it would be around 30 bucks for the ENTIRE batch of original Guitar Hero songs. This price scheme is obviously quite out of whack with that theory.
A typical map pack with new game modes runs 800 points, and Castlevania: SOTN is also 800 points, and I believe things like that are fair values. Those ten dollars buy a good deal of game for your buck. How long does it take to blow through three songs? Not nearly as long.
Also, I don't believe the comparison with iTunes downloads is valid, because we're not buying someone's intellectual property to listen to whenever we'd like, we're specifically paying for a set of songs that can only be played in the context of a game. We're not paying to have the song, we're paying for use of it for very limited gameplay purposes.

1. Online Petitions don't work. They only worked for Bioshock because they asked the fans if they wanted it.
2. LET YOUR WALLET SPEAK. I was a huge LoTR:BFMEII fan and they released a map pack for way too much money and, from what I understand, very few people bought it. Shortly after the price was cut in half.
What happened to Bungie's model of "Free if you can wait"???

hi from the uk,
just my 2 cents worth,
it is bloody extortionate to be honest, and as everybody here as said, do not buy.
iam still smarting from the bloody £70 i have to try and justify to the mrs for a "plastic guitar" as she calls it.
but what a kick in the nuts to hear these kind of prices for DLC,especially when it was one if if not there biggest selling point of the game its self.
if indeed it is as i suspect just the big MS milking every last dime out of the world, then what i would do if i was the producers.....just say F..you MS no more content unless you put the stupid prices down.
and iam sorry, maybe iam being a bit naive here, but ffs isn't £40 a year, AND £70 for the dam game enough to warrant extra content free......jesus its only been days since release........its not good customer service, anyway you slice it....
me for one just hope folks DON'T buy it and give a big finger to the big wigs, and MAKE them drop these ridiculous prices.

wow, i was expecting a price half that. well, i guess that's supply and demand at work. people are going crazy for this game, so they thought people would pay this kind of money for 3 extra songs..... and you know they will. unluckily for me, my free points card is useless. i scratched off some of the numbers and it's illegible. now i have to find a way to decipher it (with no help from MS's crappy customer support, lol).

I bought the pack with Killer Queen and ever since my game hasnt been working right. when i try to go to the store to buy new songs or characters, it freezes and says it can't read the disc. and the thing that pisses me off the most is that it wont let me play Killer Queen. I sent an email to micrsoft and im waiting for a respond. my disc is great looking, so its not a smudge or scratch.

Nobody should buy the songs at that price... We shouldn't have to pay at all. We pay for Xbox live. This is a no labor product that they are trying to make 100% profit off of. Don't buy!
