Oblivion's first expansion
Shivering Isles may be suffering from a bad case of the bugs. Over at the UESPWiki they've outlined a potentially crippling bug confirmed in the PC version of
Shivering Isles that may also affect the 360 expansion. The bug revolves around the amount of identification numbers for in game objects exhausting causing newly created objects to disappear. And since this bug is based on the amount of time played and the FPS, the Xbox 360 version would produce the bug around 150 hours of gameplay. The
Elder Scrolls community found what caused the problem and created a patch for the game, but Bethesda has yet to release anything official on the PC or 360 side of things. Though, there are a few work-arounds for each version listed in the wiki. So, have you played over 150 hours of
Oblivion with
Shivering Isles downloaded and if so, are you experiencing any wackiness?
[Thanks, Muzo360]

As far as I've heard it hasn't affected 360 players (yet.). Some people have told me they've played twice as long with no problems.

I'm fearful, as my game has started to really slow down. I walked from one area of the capital to another, and my load time was ~5 minutes. *sigh* I'm remembering a clear cache thing that may help...anyone try that?

Scotius, If you hold down any button while the game disc starts up, it will clear the cache and reload it. You can release the button once you see the Bethesda Softworks screen.

Scotius - The clear cache trick was simply holding A while the game is starting up until Bethesda is shown on the game, during which you let go of A.
I don't have Shivering Isles, stopped playing Oblivion after my first game disc stopped working due to scratches (on my first defective 360), and the Oblivion I borrowed from a friend got f*cked after I kicked my 360 while it was in the drive..... yea I know.

The original was chock full of bugs that were patched on the PC but ignored on the 360. Why should the expansion be any different?

@Mike,
I don't know what you've been smoking, but it's not doing good things to your head man. Bethesda has released 2 patches for Oblivion since it shipped, and both patches were released simultaneously for 360/PC. Care to revise your statement?

My only SI issue is that it doesn't seem to like 3rd-person view, and often makes the landscape transparent when I switch to 3rd person.
On the other hand, the recent graphical update sure makes Mania pretty in the middle of the day...

So no one has experienced any problems? Its just that I'm on the fence whether to get it or not and I don't want my character screwed up...

I completed SI about a week ago. Have been playing original since then, and haven't had a problem with anything.

Just had a conversation with a friend (Two Brains on Live) who was complaining a new item he had created had dissapeared. He is obsessed with Oblivion and spends most of his time collecting/creating items and building uber-characters, so I guess the answer is YES, this issue does affect the 360 version.

Okay...I've done a lot of researching on this and here's some stuff you should all know. Yes it is confirmed that it WILL hurt xbox users. Now with that out of the way, you should also know that it takes a LOT longer time for it to effect you. 150+ hours AFTER downloading SI. Now it will only hurt saved game files...so if you play past the deadline of hours and you start getting hurt by it just don't save...the high numbers wont be saved either. So far Bethesda has not released a patch but I would assume they are by now well aware of the issue and are working on it. Until then, run thru the imperial city naked or something...this is an excellent experiment time so long as you don't save...
