New Mass Effect screenshots emerge

Are those Mass Effect viral videos just not giving you enough visual stimuli? Does your inner fanboy just yearn for more? Well, you can thank Gamespot for coming up with four brand new Mass Effect screenshots for you to look at. In these screens you'll notice not only a fair share of specular bloom goodness, but a whole bunch of those long legged spider creatures. Hopefully these screenshots will feed your insatiable appetite for Mass Effect content and if not, you could always analyze all that fansite kit goodness. Make the jump for more screenshots.

1. altho...i must admit...the screenshots now arent as good as they once were...but a dev on the mass effect site said they have already changed his appearance.

2. I kinda hope that they show more screenies of party members, because It would be nice to see more of them, except for any that are plot-related and therefore spoiler-riffic.

3. This game looks so friggin good. Goddamn.

4. Wow, these new screenies are very... Lackluster?

5. I noticed that the early screens were really nice. but these are....hmm

6. Wow, what a huge degrade in graphics. I'm not so exited anymore about this game. The graphics is what sold me in the first place, but I'm guessing it's the lack of space they had for the game on the dvd. They even said a long time ago that they had to do a lot of work to optimize it for the game to fit. This really sucks.

7. Well there r only 4 new screens out and the only thing I see is that the eyes r looking better... And the grafix looks to me as the same.

8. The setting in these screenshots is drab and sober, I dig that. Not every location has to be red hued and at sunset! This is the first game I've ever seen where the eyes look like they're actually part of the faces of the characters, instead of being bright white balls placed behind their eyelids.

@atsui: Games of this scope are carefully planned out from a very early stage in terms of setting, features and space requirements, so I doubt that they made the textures gray just because they suddenly realized they were running out of space on the disc...

9. I don't see how these screens are any different from the demo videos or previous screens, and they're not going to gimp the graphics to fit it on 1 disc.

The new screens just seem, to me, less dramatic angles of previous shots. No new characters or environments.

10. This game looks awesome.

11. I definitely see a decrease in quality of textures. Just compare the second screenshot from April 2nd to a third screenshot from March 6th. The lead character's armor texture looks a lot sharper in the March 6th screenshot, and so does the ground texture. Come to think of it, when you look at those two screens side by side you can see how much better the March 6th one looks in terms of pretty much everything.

Next gen discs are looking better and better for games now arent they fellas?

13. I'm going to make an argument for Bioware here with nothing to base it off. I actually think it may be the quality of the images themselves that make these screens look a little less beautiful than other screens. Now I have no proof of this, I'm just not going to all of a sudden dismiss the graphics of a game I have seen being played before (via YouTube, mind you).

14. I'm on the Mass Effect forums from time to time, the devs have said that these shots were not nearly as finished as previous ones, and that the game will look the same or better as the other shots they have. They're not going to have such a beautiful game and cripple it for no reason at all.

To my knowledge the power of the Blu-ray certainly hasn't helped any PS3 game surpass a comparable 360 game. GoW>Resistance, FNR3 360> FNR3 PS3, COD3 360> COD3 PS3 ETC. ETC.
