In a recent interview with Gamertag Radio, design director of
Oblivion Shivering Isles Bruce Nesmith let out some interesting details. When asked how
Oblivion fans who don't have Xbox Live could get the
Shivering Isles expansion pack, Nesmith admitted that they were working on a retail version. According to Nesmith, there will be a new special edition of
Oblivion available at retail that will include all of the previously released content including the new
Shivering Isles expansion. He also went on to say that there will be more downloadable content for
Oblivion in the near future. So, does this sway your decision to download
Shivering Isles by just selling your current copy of
Oblivion and purchasing the new special edition when it releases? Or are you happy with downloading the expansion and having it stored on your hard drive?

I don't have Oblivion yet, so I'm more than happy to wait for them to release their Gold Edition with EVERYTHING included... for the low, low price of $60 ;)

Well I'm perfectly happy to download it, but I have a buddy who doesn't have live. While I don't know if he would want to re-buy the game just to get the expansion, I'm glad to see its an option. It would be better if they would offer just the expanded content on a disk that would load to your hdd for the same price as the download

I'm glad w/ live we can finally get some decent expansion packs on a console, I'm hoping this gets a little more popular. Oh and Tim, just have ur buddy bring his HDD to ur house or something, he only needs the silver account to dl marketplace content.

I am currently playing through a borrowed copy Oblivion right now, but am guilty of just wanting the achievement points. I do really want to get into this game, but I am focusing on just getting the achievements. I find with a lot of games that once I get the achievement points I can focus better on delving into the plot and story and that's what I will do once I finish with the achievements. But, I definitely plan on buying my own copy of Oblivion with the Shivering Isles if they release it as one disc.

@6, That's interesting that you play it that way. I play the game first and then go back to get the rest of the achievements I didn't pick up along the way. I've always thought of achievement as adding replay.... but I guess in your case it adds foreplay? :-P

I'm sure I read somewhere that this was going to be the very last piece of DLC for Oblivion... but then again I'm sure I read the same thing about the Knights of The Nine Expansion... No Complaints from me tho

It depends.
When is this new version going to be released?
Is it going to be $60? Or $30 like a Plat. hit release?

2400 pts for me in Canadian would be about $38. Pricey.
I think I'll pass. I enjoyed the game a lot (100 hours of gameplay), but I probably won't pick this up.

I played on my friend's box and then when I got my 360, it didn't credit me with the Achievements, so I got all I could from the game, but wanted the Achievements, but my disc is all scratched up, so I might trade it in and get this copy with some horse armor...

The PC edition of the expansion can be purchased at retailers for $30, while Xbox 360 players will have to download it from the Xbox Live Marketplace for 2400 Microsoft Points ($30).
