GamePro recently had an interview with Peter Molyneux, president of Lionhead Studios, about
Fable 2 wherein he used jujitsu to dodge some hard hitting questions. That being said, what he didn't say was definitely a lot. When asked about the Xbox 360's untapped potential, he brought up Xbox Live and its applications in a game like
Fable 2, saying that four people going through a quest together in a self-contained environment as opposed to an open ended one hasn't been exploited yet. Unfortunately, he couldn't say explicitly how that pertains to
Fable 2 and its online capabilities, if any. Still, it's interesting to hear how fascinated he is with the concept, and we can only imagine how it'd play out if it were true.
Fable 2 co-op, eh? How do you like the sound ofthat?

He hinted at a lot of things that didn't happen in the original, so I'm not holding my breath. If the game does have co-op, though, I'd be more likely to buy it. Almost every Molyneux game I have ever played got old after a few days, but co-op would surely lengthen the lifespan of the game.

Sounds like PSO to me, ne?
Hopefully he can do it better than SONIC TEAM.

Peter Molyneux: windbag to end all windbags. I mean, he's become a lot better, as he's not promising us that Fable 2 will make us fart gold, but still, at this point, it's impossible to take him at face value.
Fable 2 will be what it is, regardless of what Peter Molyneux says it will be.

You guys are ragging on him for what he said in the past. He promised all sorts of things for Fable.
Now, he's just talking about how interesting it would be if online co-op were in Fable 2.
Vastly different. Hinting and leaving it to us to speculate about meaning is a far cry from the "gold-fart" promises of the past.

If Fable 2 featured 4 player online co-op, I'd buy it. As it stands, I am not as interested in Fable 2.

Captain Obvious: agreed. but the bottom line remains: whether he's making wild claims about his game, or merely hinting at features, absolutely nothing he says can be backed up until the final product is out there.

I'm probably going to rent it, but a lot would have to change from the first game for me to stay interested enough to buy. I'm going to wait and see how things shape up after GDC, they've been very thin with the details of this game.

Its not just Peter who was guilty of over hyping the first Fable game, it was the PR people at Lionhead and Big Blue Box, too. In the run up to Fable in 2003, the community manager on Fable's forum, Sam, said that he got lost in the woods frequently and that he was astounded to hear villagers know to call him Chicken Chaser after he punted a chicken - when the environments in the game were smaller than most in KotOR, and Chicken Chaser was your character's default name whether you chased chickens or not.
That's just one example of one other person, but the whole studio is full of professional spin machines. Even before Fable, Black and White rode a wave of hype to phenomenal reviews, and then a few months later, many of the editors said they regretted the high scores. While we don't have any reason to trust how good any game is until its out, Molyneux and Lionhead have especially lost a lot of credibility for their past business practices. People talk about him as if he were a gaming genius on par with Warren Spector or Will Wright, when really he's just a good showman.

i'd love it if fable 2 was playable online. I was a big fan of fable and went through the game almost twenty times (including lost chapters)and if there wasnt a max stat it would be great to compare with others online aswell as play co-op.
