Hour of Victory screens and box art

Midway's upcoming World War II themed shooter Hour of Victory has the UK box art, first screenshots and some concept art and renders available for your viewing. The game will be an Xbox 360 exclusive and at the very least doesn't look ugly. We'll have to wait an see from a gameplay standpoint and how it looks when in motion if it's really worth your time. So far it seems to be taking steps in the right direction from a visual standpoint. Some of the commenters at the source were giving it the "meh" treatment since we have our Call of Duty and Brothers in Arms. We're going to wait and see before we pass judgement, though. That being said, do you think we're getting swamped with World War II titles, or is this right up your alley for the setting of a first person shooter?

Far too many WWII titles!
Where's the innovation? Please make something different! There's so much stuff that has never been made or thought of.

What about a game about the troubles in N.Ireland - would make a great first person shooter. What about a game in WWI? etc. etc.

what about a game set in Vietnam where you play the overpowered (in firepower sense) Vietnamese, relying heavily on tactics and tunnels.

It's really going to have to do something brilliant to set itself aside from the pack ... this genre needs some genuine innovation.

I've only played Call of Duty so I've yet to have my fill of WWII shooters but I can say that I am getting really fucking tired of just looking forward to FPS's in the first place. I think Halo 3 and Lost Planet are the last ones I'm gonna get for a while. Don't give'em anymore money and they'll have to do something else besides a shooter.

Thank God that Banjo and Kazooe, Virtua Fighter 5, and Virtua Tennis are coming out this year. Not to mention Sping/Summer are coming so we can all go outside again, lol. I looked at my collection recently and I noticed 3/4's of my games are shooters and racers. I've FPSed myself out this winter and just need some variety peroid. Anyone else feel the same way?

The reason they make so many FPS's is because of people like me, I personally can't get enough of the shooting. I pretty much like any game where I can shoot things; nazis, aliens, baby seals - I'll take it all. New and innovative games are certainly great, but at the end of the day I just wanna sit down, relax, and shoot the crap out of everything.

I'm an unapologetic FPS nut(this includes 3rd person titles as well;)) Most other games(other than old school titles from my youth) don't interest me. The other thing that I'm crazy for is WWII facts and history. Much to my wife's chagrin, I can't get enough of books, movies, and GAMES that have anything to do with WWII.

Yes, there are a lot of things that developers can do to reinvent this genre or any other, but I for one do not/will not/am not sick of WWII games at all! Maybe I'm crazy, but even those who have studied that war even a little bit should realize just how many different stories there are too tell.

On a side note, I actually would like to see a WWI game. Even though developers wouldn't have to worry about graphics too much...I mean...how many different textures and colors can you apply to a trench? :)
