Video: new Lost Planet maps
GameVideos has posted a video of new maps coming to Capcom's latest hit, Lost Planet. One of the maps shown has been available to owners of the collector's edition since Lost Planet's release, but the rest are all new. The maps show off a broad range of locales, one of which may or may not be underwater. No, seriously, there's a submarine in one of them. Plenty of the maps forgo the icy cold nature of Lost Planet, offering wasted cityscapes, beautiful mountainsides, and a radar facility. Details of the release date and price have not been announced.
Check out the video and tell us what you think.

haven't played this yet. can someone tell me if this is worth a rent? Is the multiplayer even any good? I never see anyone on my friends list playing it.

Wow, those maps look bad ass.
Boog, go rent this game now, its completely worth at the least, a rental. The one player campaign was fun as hell (storyline itself.. meh.. but playing through the game, so so nice). Multiplayer is great, level design is top notch, weapon choice has a lot of originality ("dummy grenades"... mech suits that you can swap out weapons on... and the levels.. oh the levels)

Multiplayer, I find, to be a race to Who can get in a VS first, or a total throw away frag match.
Honestly? The Singplayer is addicting (*DAMN YOU GREEN EYES!*)

Green Eyes kicked my ass the few first times.
Anyways, VS' are not as powerful as people make them out to be sometimes. Dummy and disc 'nades take em out easily and quickly (actually, most any grenade type, plus, once a person pops out of the VS, they tend to not have much time to shake off before getting pelted by anybody, real vulnerable).
Energy gun pops a person out with 1 hit. Plasma's have unlimited ammo plus the zoom.
Really, as long as you aren't standing right next to the person in the VS, you are good.

If they are using a VS where their head/body are exposed, just pick them off with a sniper rifle, then they will be forced out of the VS. If not, just use grenades and hopefully you can take them down.
For anyone who is on the fence about this game, it is worth a buy. The single player, while short, is fantastic and you'll defiantly want to go through it again (a lot of times more if you want all the achievements). The multiplayer is extremely fun, as well.

This game is beautiful, there is no denying that! And these maps look awesome! If you like shooter style games and haven't picked this up you are missing out.

I still get a laugh out of those "dummy" grenades. What were they thinking when they came up with that? Everyone knows they are dummies.

thanks paco, on that review I think I will rent this. I was hoping it was awful, because I really don't have time for another game right now. So much out for the 360 I haven't even played.

I've got Lost Planet..I've beat it twice now, and I have to say it's a fun, different title from Capcom and unlike Dead Rising in many ways, but also very much like it in others.
The Lost Planet gameplay is very arcade-like much like Dead Rising, the graphics, textures and colors just as breathtaking, but..the story is completely tacked on and uninteresting to follow, the enemy designs laughable (what's with the Joker in the ponytails anyway?), but again much like Dead Rising, the end battle, while I won't spoil much for you, is a lot like a past mech game on PS2 and completely changes the feel of the whole thing, making it feel really disjointed. It's not a military tank like in Dead Rising..but just as unconnected to the Akrid and snow as tanks are to zombies.
Multiplayer is fun, and a very nice breath of fresh air compared to the heavy feel of Gears online. Both are awesome, and each offer completely different types of online battles.
I haven't tried all of the facets of multiplayer yet but it's really fun and easy to level up in. In only an hour I went from level 1 to level 15 expierience.
Lost Planet is worth a purchase if you completely forget about a point to the storyline (Gears' storyline was much more fleshed out and solid than this Lost Planet's story is.) The VS suits are fun as hell, and once you find the right weapon to snipe with, well, it becomes one of the better sniping games out there that I've seen in HD. The particle effects of snow and explosions are stellar as well.
These new maps look really varied and a lot of fun! Many of the LP multiplayer maps seem huge, so I hope there's some smaller ones coming.
Peace

Just so you know, the dummy grenades are probably my favorite grenades to have. Think of them as a remote mine from Goldeneye, throw it near the person you're planning on killing and fire a shot into it.
