A mere two hours ago we brought you the screens for Rainbow 6: Vegas' new content due at the end of March, now we have our hands on the official press release, which gives plenty of information one what you're getting in the "Player's Pack Red Edition". First off, the two relit maps are Killhouse and Border Town. That covers the content you've seen before, albeit at a different time of day. The fresh meat in terms of arenas are Roof, Doscala Restaurant, and Marshalling Yard. The two multiplayer modes can be played on all 15 maps, and look interesting. Total Conquest is a team-oriented "King of Hill/Territories" game type, with three static control points on a given map. The goal is to control at least 1 point for the specified time. Assassination has the attackers gunning for the VIP, who is being escorted to the extraction zone by the defending team. Essentially, it is Saints Row's "Protect Tha Pimp", without the bitch slapping. Now you know how it looks, and how the new gametypes work. If the screens didn't grab your attention, does this? Additional details on the three new maps can be found through the "Read" link.

well this is how is see it
if ubi made a effort to trutly expand the game then i would be worth the 800-1200 premium for so call "expansion content" not just new weapons or something else
the two re-lit maps are just that there nothing in terms of work that need to be done just change the dll to use a different texture set.
the new gameplay modes were (prehaps on purpose) left out, but were including in the Black Arrow expanison for the original xbox game. so instead of adding gameplay modes ubi decided to remove game code that was already writen more or less, so that they could nickel and dime later on.
so with that said it boils down to three new maps?
now are three new maps worth 800-1200 points...no not really its not even as if the three new maps have re-lite verisons as well(what will that be in the Blue player pack?)
the problem is there isnt enough in there to make it worth it, maybe some new gun models, or equipment, but three new maps and stuff that could have very easily been included in the orignal i'll save my money it only sucks though becasue all this does is divide a community between those that are taken advantage of becasue they ARE fans of the series and those that see Ubi obivous money grab scam.
it sucks becasue we are the only ones that lost out.

Joe hit it on the nose. It's bullshit that they removed "Total Conquest" from the retail release. It's clearly the exact same thing as in Black Arrow. But whatever. I'll be buying it because I didn't buy that overpriced GRAW content.
This way, by avoiding getting screwed one out of two times, it's sort of like I'm only getting half-screwed. Which I guess is okay.

I am on the 800MS points for 3 maps is a serious shafting bandwagon. especially since this game, for all its praises, is not anywhere near halo2 is as far as console online gameplay is concerned, if it were, then it MIGHT be worth it, but only then so i could continue to play... but as it is i still play more halo2 than RB6, so, ill just save my money for the upcoming oblivion expansion, and play halo2 :)

Ubi is no longer worth it. They now cater to once-off consumers and could care about loyalty. Maybe that business model works for them> All I know is that this comsumer is spending it elsewhere.

I agree. I love the game, but Ubisoft's idea of "extra content" doesn't really appeal to me any more. I'll keep my money.

I can definitely sympathize with those who feel that certain past content wasn't worth the money, but the bottom line is this: If you don't want to pay, then don't get the content. I myself would consider it very low indeed if they only offered the maps with no gameplay add-in's, but since they've added an Escort gametype (I'm hooked on those) and the old Domination gametype, I feel that the cost of 800 MP Points (no more) would be worth it. Trust the word of someone who works in software development and maintenance: Ubisoft may have some serious sales going on with these big-name franchises of theirs, but it still costs A LOT of money to make this content, and to get it certified, and to pay the overhead on the offices, and to pay the staff for the work...so at the end of the day, the $60 you paid for the game still gets sunken into paying all these things on ALL of Ubisoft's fronts...I'm sure their profits are broken up to best help strengthen other titles' weak sales, etc. So let's say [almost] no one buys the content...maybe Ubisoft will get the message and make new content free? Doubtful. Businesses are all about making a profit, and that's what they'll continue to do. Yes, The Discovery Channel sponsored the free maps for Gears...but no, they won't do that for just anyone. They saw a window of opportunity with a product that sold like wildfire and fit nicely into marketing their Future Weapons series. Bottom Line: It's not as easy as it looks to make this content, so if you think it's robbery...don't buy it.
