Double Agent and Vegas for $39.99

Major Nelson brings word that Best Buy has Rainbow Six: Vegas on sale for $39.99. We checked it out and found out that Splinter Cell: Double Agent is available for $39.99 as well. If you've been waiting to pick up either one of these games, you could do a lot worse than a $20 discount. While you're at it, you may want to pick up a copy of Project 8 or Madden 07, which are on sale for the slightly less attractive price of $49.99. As an added bonus, you can get an additional $10 off of any of these titles if you pre-order Lost Planet. Vegas for $29? Not bad. Anyone else find any good deals today?

1. My local Gamecrazy informs me that this is not a sale, but a price drop.

Which is why their last copy of R6: Vegas was out and I couldn't buy it for a friend of mine for a Late-Christmas present. D:

Oh well, I gave him Gears of War, I guess he can't really complain. :|

2. Mike-
Did you get GOW for the lower Circuit City price as well?

Posted at 4:44PM on Jan 4th 2007 by David

3. If Best Buy is out of R6:V feel free to get Circuit City or CompUSA to price match. That's what I did and now my ugly mug is molded onto a Rainbow Six character. Pretty sweet and its relatively creepy how accurate it is.

4. Caveat Emptor.

R6V's online component will not work with everyone's internet connection, no matter how fast your dl or upload speed is, no matter how small your packet loss, no matter how updated your firmware, no matter how "forwarded" your ports are, no matter how compatible your router is with the list at www.xbox.com, and no matter how smoothly your connection plays /every/ other XBL title.

You simply will not be able to play any Vegas games that you are not invited into, and will be stuck with the (admittedly kickass) SP campaign.

Like yours truly (as if you hadn't guessed.)

5. There was a patch, it didnt fix that? The people I know that had trouble with it were on wireless networks, which should never be used for gaming to begin with.

6. Tacklebox:

Yes, there was a patch, but it was pre-Xmas and I got this game under the tree. I'm not sure if it helped this issue or what.

I'm wired directly into a Netgear Gateway Router, so no wireless. My connection tests at extreme low packet loss rates and similarly low latency. My DL Speed is 10,000, and my up is a quick 400-ish.

The gateway is Microsoft-approved for XBL. My connection handles every other MP game like a dream. Hell, I can host 16 players in GRAW (from time to time, at least.)

I also forgot to mention Ubisoft's other notable programming decision to include in their MP interface: The innovative "AUTOMATIC XBOX LIVE DISCONNECT BUTTON", which I use regularly.

Oh, wait. Did I say "AUTOMATIC XBOX LIVE DISCONNECT BUTTON"? Damn. I meant to say "Refresh Server"

7. I went to best buy 2 days before christmas and got rainbow six for 15 dollars.

8. I picked up Gears of War for $44.99 about a week ago at Best Buy.

9. For us Canadians, R6 Vegas was part of the Best Buy DOT CA Boxing Day sale. Kudos to anyone who secured a copy online over their website at $39.99 CDN before they ran out or snagged one in-store. I secured deals on Q4 and NHL 2K7, but missed out on Vegas.

Bestbuy.ca has a few 360 titles on sale this week. Seems to be the place to keep your eyes peeled lately.

10. I think the $10 coupon is in a magazine...maybe game informer... I would love a scan if they will take it and someone has an idea where to look...maybe fat wallet? deal time? slicdeals?

You can also get the $5 off coupons with some gift cards but last time I looked my BB was out...They also have the 10% off coupons out in mail now too.

But I would rather save 10 then 5 or 4...go figure.

11. I actually bought Gears of War at $10 off at Wal-mart, it wasn't so much a coupon or sale, so much as it was me using up an old Wal-Mart gift card (Since I actively ban purchases from walmart for myself).

So I got it for $49.99, which is still not the super-deal that it could have been.

I'm all about buying games on a budget. :]

13. There is a BestBuy weekly ad for the $39.99 price in the US, just take it in to you local Wal-Mart they price match.

14. Just a note - I saw Madden 07 at Target for $39.99.

Posted at 3:28PM on Jan 5th 2007 by Kris

15. This is all just teaching everybody to wait about a month on 360 games and they all seem to go down to $40, perhaps due to the systems success?

Imagine if games start retailing right away at $40,everyone will buy one. That's cheaper than most PS2 games!

For $40, can't beat this. Might as well preorder Lost Planet as well, wonder if they have the Collectors Edition...

16. I search all over looking for Vegas, I finally found it at Sears, they price matched the ad, and took an additional 2 dollars off, pretty sweet.

17. There is a coupon out there from a mag for another $10 off a best buy game 39.99 and up. There are scans of it around somewhere.
